How Many Non-Res Permits Issued?

Does anyone know for a fact how many Non-Resident permits IL has issued? I was born and raised in IL but have not lived there since '84. I still have family and friends there so I do travel and visit there often. I have not applied for their Non-Res permit yet and may never do so. Before I did I wanted to hear from anyone who went through the process and IF IL actually issued a permit to them.

I had heard that so far IL had ONLY issued 2 permits but that may be because IL had only 2 apply! I have family who have applied but they have not gotten theirs so far.

I know that this doesn't answer the question you asked, but Illinois only issues non-resident permits to persons that are residents of Hawaii, New Mexico, South Carolina, or Virginia, and have a permit from that state of residence. You would need to move to one of these states first.

I did not know that. But knowing IL politics, that is about par for the course! I do know that according to their law, until the antis change it, you can have a loaded firearm in your vehicle. But you must lock it up either in the glove compartment or the console when you leave the vehicle.

As of Aug 18, IL had issued two non-resident licenses. There had been only 5 applicants by that date.

I did a Freedom of Information request to obtain this info directly from the Illinois State Police. I plan to submit another request in October.

Ironically, I live in IL (active duty military) but don't qualify for an IL license since I am considered a non-resident.

Glove compartment and the console are options, but don't need to be locked if the vehicle is locked. Other types of cases or containers are allowed too (e.g, zippered) and don't need to be locked either if the vehicle is locked when you exit.
