Have carried beretta 32 acp in a 1934 model as well as others loaded on half cock that da will do fine
Most of the ballistics tests are out of a ppk 3.2 in barrel and most euro pistols function much better with euro ammo as wider rim gap and extractor to match, most function best with fmj,I keep one jhp in the pipe rest are fmj for reliability.
Most of the weak round theory is based on 129-130 fpe american ammo, now since so many plastic wonders and even the tip up barrel beretta rated 130 fpe, have been made even the euro mfg make some of it.
But if one reads the info on the boxes many euro rds are 160 fpe.174 fpe up to 205 fpe caution real steel needed, now at the higher settings or fpe that exceed most 380 loads in short barreled pistols, you will get recoil and a push into the web of your hand.
That 205 round has 13 in penetration at over 1200 fps.60 grain jhp.
Avoid the frag or special defence rounds as most dont preform as described and just because the ammo company says has been shot in such a model doesnt mean the mfg designed it for such.
Something like the 160 fpe in sellier and belliot is an intermediate round that is comfortable to shoot and accurate and above what most are shooting.Equal to say corbon if that tells one anything.
Most of the up close and personal aspect comes from strong da pulls on many pistols,sa one can if a decent pistol shoot a pop can at 30 ft ( I can at 50 easily)and keepem all in it.The euro police method was to carry loaded , unlocked da pull if necessary ,cock hammer if had time.
Most 32 will provide a 2-2 1/2 in grouping at 7-11 yards
