How long do you carry a gun?

When you find a carry gun you like do you stick with it for a good long time as your EDC? Or do you look for another carry gun to switch off with it?

The nature of the handgun beast seems to be to own as many guns as possible. How many guns do you own and how many of them are carry guns?

Myself I have 2 carry guns. A Bersa Thunder .380 and a Ruger SR9c, carry both in an IWB holster.
I no longer look for more carry guns, though I do look at other guns for possible purchase.
I believe my two carry guns should last me for years. Maybe just buy another gun or two for range.

:pleasantry:

i would stick to one gun for edc that way you have it embeded in your reflexes what you working with and can use it more effectively and efficiently than having to think which gun am i carrying today. same with mode of carry i think it best to try and carry the same place on your body as often as you can.......
for me it's a 3-330 position in an iwb holster ...right now my gun is a bit big for conceal carry but it's what i have now to work with so i'm making it work until i get a smaller more concealable gun.....

I carried a Ruger P95 9mm for a couple of years. I felt it was too bulky for everyday carry. So, I changed that and recently picked up a Sig Sauer P250 Sub-compact 9mm. I always carry in the same spot every time and I also carry when I go to target practice. This helps you to get use to the gun and use to drawing from the waist. I normally carry around the 3 to 3:30 at all times as it's the most comfortable to me.

Been primarily carrying a 1911 for 30+ years. Own 12 handguns in .45acp, 9x19mm. .22LR and only the .22LR is not a carry gun.

I have a Ruger SR9c as EDC and a Tauras TCP .380 when carrying the Ruger is impractical. I have no plans of buying another handgun for awhile.

For me, a Sig sp2022 and my BUG is a Taurus TPC. I mix it once and a while and carry my Ruger P95. Sometimes as my primary and sometimes along with the Sig. It depends on the destination. 🔫👀

I have three guns that I use for carry

In the winter I carry a full size CZ75B in 40S&W

the other 7 & 1/2 months a year I carry a S&W 6906 in 9mm

and when concealment is really important I carry a CZ 2075 RAMI in 40S&W

Depends on the person. I have carried the same one for about 12 years now in the same holster in the same place.

I have several guns, but my Glock 31 (.357) is my main carry and my Ruger LCR .357 is my truck gun when I go to work. It is unlikely that I will change, I carry what I've trained with extensively. Don't care about how the gun looks, but the reliability of the weapon. It's called the "TRUST" Factor!

I'm a bluejeans & T-shirt type guy and ride a motorcycle. So, I've struggled over the years trying to find the perfect conceal weapon. I've since settled with a Kel Tec, P3AT .380 in a wallet holster. Conceals nice whatever I'm wearing. When the weather calls for more clothing, I have a Ruger LC9 I carry ITW. I also have a S&W, 642 Airweight, 38 special that lives in my truck.

What gun is carried for how many years is less important than always carrying the gun in the same place in the same way all the time regardless of what gun it is. Because under stress a person will reach for the same place as usual expecting to find a gun there.

I carry on my hip, in my pocket, and under my arm. I know where to reach to find a gun and my wife knows where to find a gun on me if I'm down and her gun is empty. I sometimes change which gun is in which place but although the gun might change the places I carry them doesn't change.

And yep... guns can last for years. Most guns will last a lot longer than their owners will live because rarely will a gun be used so much it wears out. But how many carry guns (and/or range guns) does a person need? I don't know... it's a personal decision so how many do you think YOU need? Or better yet... how many do you WANT?

What he said.
I carry in 1 of 2 places right front pocket, right hip. Most of the time both! The guns sometimes change, though right now it's 2 guns, g36 and pf9. The 2 most important things with any carry system is high percentage of carry (always have your gun on you) and consistent place of gun (always know where your gun is). The gun itself doesn't matter.

I carry a Thunder .380 and a SR40c. I also have an H&R 22 mag,but that's not a carry gun.
I hope to be carrying these guns for years.

I carry a Colt everyday. I also normally compete with the same pistol. I have carried it for quite some time.

I will say though, I picked up a XDm 3.8 .45 the other day that is very accurate. 500 rounds without a hiccup. The first time out I was one down on two IDPA targets at 35 yards. (That is three of 4 in a 10" circle with one just out side.) I've carried the Colt for so long though, it will be tough to replace.

I carry a Taurus 24/7 .45 OSS probably 80% and my PT-845 the other 20%. I sometimes carry my Mill pro .45 as a Bug. Those are my three favorites for now, until I get a 1911.
