How fast can you and your gear make it out?

God Bless Our Troops!!!
How fast can you and your gear make it out?

That's right...HOW FAST?

Here is the drill. Starting from a sitting position at the kitchen table (as if you were having dinner or coffee) GO GO GO...Grab your gun, BOB/VEST, ammo and make it out the door and be ready to go. How long did it take? Did it take more than one trip? Did you struggle?

Here is what works for me:

Grab and don vest
Grab and holster Pistol
Grab ammo can
Grab Rifle
Walk calmly to door and egress building/structure

My out the door time is way less than 1 minute.

I still have one hand free for a pelican case with my other stuff!

Are you a minute man? Can you get it out the door in a minutes notice?

This may be a valuable skill in the foreseeable future.

!!!THIS IS YOUR SURVIVAL SKILL CHALLENGE!!!

DON'T BE A NANCY...GET IT DONE

I don't see your BOB in your list.

I need to get up, walk to the bedroom closet, put on my tactical vest, reach to the left and grab my gunbelt that has holster for pistol with tactical light, extra mags, automatic knife, OC, flashlite and a pair of cuffs. Grab the pistol with tactical light from the safe next to the bed and put in holster. Walk toward door through second room grab BOB backpack that has all the survival gear in it along with a US Henry .22 survival rifle. Grab the "rope bag" that contains a whole array of rope and attachers along with extra ammo. Add a rifle if desired and out the door.

what do you guys/gals think?

i was thinking that i need to have our stuff already prepositioned in vehicle. in addition to the vehicle emergency kit.

Great angle! I'll get this figured out and post my results...I guess I need to get off my A$$ and focus on getting my ducks in a row. My BOB is only half done.

Thanks for the kick in the head.

Perhaps as long as you have a garage and park in it. If you leave it out side You may end up with your vehicle and all your bug out stuff gone. The one and only time my wife ever left her gun in the car and the car out side was for about 45 min. one night while we were cleaning the garage. Someone managed to break in and steal her gun.

Very good thread!!

I remember during my Airforce bootcamp that everyone prepared everything during the night before.

We showered at night before lights out.
We set up our BDUs so when we awoke at the sound of Revelile, we were outside, lined up (locked, cocked & ready to rock) and ready to sing the Airforce Song, in under 5 minutes!! My boots even had speed laces!

If its good enough for the armed service? It's definitely good for me!

My vest is my bob.

I use a survival vest instead of a BOB. It holds just as much and doesn't kill my back. It has 22 pounds of gear not including pistol and pistol mags. Every thing I need from my training is in it. http://www.alpharubicon.com/prepinfo/survvestsfestus.htm I have more extreme weather stuff loaded in the BOV.

BTW my out ther door time walking through this exercise is 42 seconds.

My youngest son (14) got his gear, his rifle and his ammo can out the door in 59 seconds.

NOW GET OFF YOUR DUFF AND DO IT.

hmmm.....

i have a autistic son so it will take me longer.

Planning is the key to execution

Hang the vest/bob in your closet.
Store your ammo in a convenient format such as an ammo can
Keep your goto rifle in the same place all the time.
Plan the quickest route past all these items with out doubling back.

I you can't get it in one trip...YOU DON"T NEED IT.

BUGGING OUT MEANS YOU ARE IN A RACE FOR YOUR LIFE!!!

There's a closet in my hallway where I keep everything. I've tried this a few times, and I can get everything out to the truck (by myself), secured, get everybody in the truck, lock the house down, and be out of the driveway in under 2 minutes.

That's a good starting point!

Try for 1 minute or less!

Has it really come down to this? If I have to bug out, where? Do you keep 5 grand in the house just so someone can break in and rob ya? They'll be no banks or ATM's available. How far are you going to get on a tank of gas? That's IF you keep your vehicle full at all times. I agree a plan for a fast and well prepared exit in case of emergency. But from what it sounds like, this is more of fleeing Big Brother then any natural disaster. Is it really coming to this?

TWO ROUND BURSTS-Evaluate and repeat if necessary!

Such a novice at this. Not going to try to figure this out. Just going with my first guess and hope someone will edumacate me!
BOB..would that be Bug out bag? BOV= Bug out vehicle? OK no laughing. Just help out the "challenged"

It may very well come to that. I pray it does not however the way things are going it would be prudent to be ready just in case.

For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth -- to know the worst and to provide for it. Patrick Henry March 23, 1775

Look at the world today and gather yourself a little ditty bag of stuff you'll need in the event of total infrastructure failure.

Reasons to bug out...

Reasons to bug out...Nuclear powerplant failure
Huge Storm...
Tsunnami warning...

Right now the Asian side of the world holds the vast majority of US debt. If we fail as a nation they will fail as well. Think about this...Japan attacked Pearl over a fuel embargo.

Do you want to risk that with CHINA?

Every day our Gov't puts some new Left Wing Radical Nutjobs into a position of power and authority. These folks have all said repeatedly that GUNS ARE BAD...GUN PEOPLE ARE BAD.
Do you want to risk your freedom and your first ammendment voice by sitting idle while the world speeds by?

Plan for the worst hope for the best...It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

We talked about being more mobile, quicker. It's definately something to work on. We are going camping next weekend. It's just a trip for my wife and daughter right now, but we are going to work on making shelters, fire, finding food, etc.... I'm just not going to tell them till we get there. As far as getting them out of the house, I'm lucky to get them moving in two days, much less two minutes!

Of course I hope not. However, although I am not fanatical about festus's under one minute bug out, there is a lot of truth in being ready for under one minute, which means that in the real world, your stuff will be in one place and your real time will be acceptable.

If I waited to put together that single "bag",which may be multiples, or vests or what-ever, it is likely nothing would ever really be in one place and my time would be more like an hour or more.

I never considered a rush here, because what we face here mostly is hurricanes which tend to give a lot of warning ... then came the fires! When in areas just a few miles from me they came down the streets and told people to get in their cars and leave ... NOW! The urgency started getting clearer. You are going to move and you are going to take what you can grab, so the more that stuff is organized, the more you will wind up with you when you do have to go.

Of course, after watching the aftermath of these recent earthquakes, the unfortunate realization is a minute may be way too long!
