How difficult to get a CCW permit in SB county

Hi, I live in San Bernardino county. Recently, while visiting family in Louisiana, my father have me a 9mm handgun.

I like to do a lot of hiking in the mountains and would like to carry it with me for protection. Especially now that I have two small children.

Anyone know how difficult it is to obtain aCCW permit in SB county?

First thing's first...

You are in violation of Federal law.

Your father cannot legally transfer that handgun to you, without it going through an FFL in your (the recipient's) state of residence.

The easiest way to fix this, is to have him come up for a visit, then make the transfer legal at your local gun store.

We are fortunate to have a very CCW friendly Sheriff.
1. 1 year residency in SB county
2. Live in outside a city or within a city contracted with the Sheriff
3. Pick up application at main office
4. Four references and three letters of reference
5. Interview - good cause on application "personal protection" and nothing related to work.
6. Class/qualification
7. Neighborhood check to verify your character and that you indeed live in SBC
8. Issued CCW

Time is the biggest factor and it seems to take a lengthly time to go through the process. I recommend that you go to California Concealed Weapon (CCW) Forum to get the best and latest information.

You could do something along the lines of shipping it to an FFL in Louisiana, where he could pick it up...then he could ship it back to your FFL in California, where you would pick it up and take possession of it legally.

Well , a bit of research last night showed me that since I live in ontario, which has it's own police department, I have to go through them first. Then, if they deny me I can apply at the SBSD.

Anybody here ever get one from the Ontario PD?

This is the saddest thing I've read in a while. The writer considers himself "fortunate" to have these restrictions.
I lived in San Diego for 30 years and then Washington DC. I never realized how oppressed I was until I moved to Idaho where you can wear your gun on your hip almost without restriction.
