How 22LR ammo is made

Brings back memories of when I was rebuilding machines for Federal Cartridge. We made 4 .22 Cal Headers from scratch for them because they were unable to find any used machines that they could have us rebuild for them.

This video shows just how much work and operations go into a bullet just so we can take it to the range so it can go bang! For center fire there are many more operations. I always found it interesting and amazing how ammo was made. By seeing how Federal made their ammo and their strict guidelines, I have always liked Federal over other ammo companies. I know the other ammo companies also have strict guidelines for making their ammo. CCI and Federal Cartridge are both owned by ATK.

4 million rounds a day, at that one plant - and we all still have trouble finding even a couple boxes of 50 on the shelves.

Is there a black hole it's all falling into?

I've heard that they're actually pumping out way more today than a year or two ago, it's just all the hoarders and scalpers that are wiping out the supply. Once the people stop buying it at outrageous prices from the scalpers the prices will fall drastically.

Luckily, checking slickguns frequently, you can actually find rounds under .10$/per so it lookes like prices are starting to fall which should bring supply back.
