is it legit ammo? Or is it **** ammo? I wanna use some for self defense is it hollow point?

Green tip has antifreeze in it. Lethal to the undead. Irresistible to the redneck loud muffler knuckle dragging mouth breather.

Ignore the troll.

I was thinking about using the Zombie Max as carry ammo but when I was researching it on Hornady's website I came across this disclaimer:

Disclaimer: Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition is NOT a toy (IT IS LIVE AMMUNITION), but is intended only to be used on…ZOMBIES, also known as the living dead, undead, etc. No human being, plant, animal, vegetable or mineral should ever be shot with Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition. Again, we repeat, Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition is for use on ZOMBIES ONLY, and that's not a nickname, phrase or cute way of referring to anybody, place or thing. When we say Zombies, we mean…ZOMBIES!

After reading that I decided against that ammo. Even though its just "Critical Defense" rounds with a green tip, I can only imagine the field day the prosecution would have with the bolded section if I were to use it on someone.

It's just humor . . let HORNADY become your witness when it comes to the intent of that statement . . All you have to say is that it is the same as V-Max, provide the spec sheets on them, obvious its the same, and you like the green tip better than the red . . are we not in sort of a 'green' energy thing, why not green tip ammo?

I understand that it was done in humor, but I've decided not to have to worry about it. That and I can buy twice the FMJ's, for the almost the same pricem, for my Zombie preparations.

FMJ and JHP ammo are two different things. You'll find most JHP ammo is more expensive than FMJ. For sel-defense, JHP is the way to go. For target shooting, then FMJ. If you don't like the idea of the Zombie Max ammo/box, just go with Hornady's Critical Defense ammo. Same ammo with red tip instead of green and none of the writing on the box you don't care for.

Yeah I picked up a box of critical defense before the Z-Max came out.

You'll find most JHP ammo is more expensive than FMJ.

That's my point. When talking strictly about disabling Zombies, you don't need the the expansion of a JHP like you would in an everyday self defense situation. A FMJ will do the damage that needs to be done just as effectively at half the price.

Yes, I understand it's a sales gimmick and I've been thinking about getting a box for when I do need to take out that first Zombie, just to say I did it with a "Zombie" round.

It's exactly the same as Critical Defense, I want to get some. I'm hesitant not because of the warning but the name of it. If I where ever to get into a situation where I had to fire, my guess is the Prosecutors would have a field day because it's called Zombie Max.

You can only buy it if you have a loud muffler.

Not exactly the same. The Z-max is plain brass case while the CD is nickel plated brass.
