Honest opinions please. Who here would use this product?

This came up in another thread, and I have not seen any mention of it from my forum lurking days.

I personally can't see myself as carrying or using it. It makes me think of the one my daughter has with her matching tiara.

But I would like to hear opinions if what other people think since this would be used post shooting versus the ever too much made fun of CCW badge.

I have seen that before and I thought it was a joke at first. I can't see deploying that on myself even if I could. It is against the law in New Mexico to identify yourself in any fashion except with the actual license itself (no CCW badges here) I think that banner would break that law in my state.

Obviously a former Miss America pageant winner helped design them. Seriously, why even mark yourself as a target during an active shooting engagement why not just make it a bulls-eye and save the opposition some trouble.

Of two minds...

I'm of mixed opinion on this product.

Part of me wants to make (yet more) "CCW Badge" and "Sheepdog" jokes.

BUT...it seems to me that the intention is that this be deployed AFTER one has survived a self-defense shooting scenario, to identify yourself as the "good guy" when law enforcement response is imminent.

In that sense...it actually seems like a pretty decent idea.

But here is a better link - to the product page, not the FAQ page:

Would I use this product?

A CCW sash? Not in this lifetime! The whole point of concealed carry is NOT TO DRAW ATTENTION TO ONE'S SELF!!! If one wants to advertise the fact that they are carrying, open carry.

Mostly for people who think they are cops

I do see your point on putting it on after an incident, but I think it is very impracticable. Also the cops will not give it much credence since anyone can buy one.

I think it would cause a lot of problems with the police accusing you of impersonating an officer.

not a good idea to me .. attracts too much unwanted attention IMHO! ..
a badge is not going to make a difference to the LEO's .. you will put your weapon down and assume the position anyway until they feel safe ..

Obviously you don't WALK AROUND with it proudly displayed. It's for after you've shot someone in self-defense and the cops are on the way.

How would you be accused of impersonating an officer, since the letters CCW are clearly displayed in 3M reflective letters?

It's SUPPOSED to attract attention!! Cops pull up...see you with your gun pointed at the bad guy, who is lying on the ground, either bleeding out, or still conscious and pleading for his life saying something like "HELP...THAT CRAZY B@ST@RD SHOT ME...I DIDN'T DO NUTHIN..."

The idea is that they see you first, wearing a safety device that says "don't shoot me...I'm the good guy..."

So far, the only real downside I can see (aside from being made fun of if certain people on this forum know you have it), is having yet one more thing to carry on your belt.

Phil: Your comment has some merit but there is one big problem I forsee. If the LEOs aren't indoctrinated into the use of this sash, it might be meaningless proposition.

It's nothing more than a piece of reflective tape with letters on it. Nothing but confusion and distractions to officers already likely to be in a dangerous situation. Any cop that would hesitate even a moment to trust a piece of tape with letters on it that anybody can make in their garage probably doesn't have enough IQ points to safely be a cop. Come on, now, REALLY?

What's to keep the criminal from making one of these in their garage or buying one off ebay?

Oh, wait, I know! Let's make fake CCW banners illegal to possess! Yeah, that's it! :-)

Sitting gun in hand if BG is still an issue, phone on 911 to LEO in other hand waiting on officer. I have no use for a badge or reflective anything.

I can see the practical sides of the sash but if it were to be put into use I think it should only be issued to the ccw holder when receiving the license or upon renewal, like someone previously posted if anyone can buy them whats to stop criminals in obtaining them.

If they made one that said "Armed Sheepdog", and maybe put ranks on them like sergeant stripes or an oak leaf on it, they'd sell at least half a dozen on this site in a few minutes!
