“Purchasing firearms will be as simple as consumers calling a toll-free number.”
.
As gun sales in the U.S. increase, a new home shopping T.V. network dedicated to firearms is hoping to make buying one even easier.
.
GunTV, a new channel scheduled to premiere in January, will sell firearms and related products as well as broadcast gun-related content, according to the Desert Sun newspaper. Think of it as HSN for gun enthusiasts.
.
GunTV is the brainchild of Doug Bernstein and Valerie Castle, founders of the channel’s parent company, the Social Responsibility Network. Their plan is to debut with six hours of programming daily, with a goal of becoming a 24-hour network within its first year.
.
A promotional video states, “The ease and convenience of purchasing firearms will be as simple as consumers calling a toll-free number.”
.
Manufacturers must apply to have their products promoted on GunTV, which is based in California. Viewers will be able to buy those that are accepted by telephone and online. All orders are processed by Sports South, GunTV’s fulfillment partner. Shoppers have a list of pre-approved gun dealers to choose from where they can pick up their orders.
.
Craig Deluz, the communication director at the California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees, told the Desert Sun he was not surprised that someone would try to create an all-gun home shopping channel. But he was surprised that it’s operating from California, which has some of the nation’s strictest firearm regulations.
.
Laura Cutilletta, a lawyer at the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, expressed surprise that this venture is being taken on at all. “When you look at the number of gun deaths in this country every day, the idea that somebody’s ‘brilliant marketing scheme’ is to get more guns into the hands of more people is just a little bit outrageous,” Cuttilleta told the Desert Sun, adding that “this is the last thing we need.”
.
Aside from selling firearms, the network will broadcast educational and gun safety programming. As Castle told the Desert Sun, for every hour of programming, three minutes will be dedicated to firearm education and safety training. The channel’s website states that it has the potential to reach 34 million satellite television subscribers across the nation.

My Thoughts: This should get Barack and all the Anti-gun pukes panties all in a bunch for sure.

I heard about this somewhere before and was wondering how they would ship since the gun would have to go to a FFL. If they plan to ship all over the country, I wonder if they will use the chains like Cabela's, ****'s, Gander Mountain or smaller mom and pop gun stores.

Like every Internet gun shop, the customer either provides a FFL of his choice or the seller simply looks one up in a FFL directory.

Shoppers have a list of pre-approved gun dealers to choos.se from where they can pick up their order

I was thinking this meant preapproved by the folks doing the show, but maybe it means by gov't as in have their FFL- that would make more sense.

The government doesn't and can't pre-approve anything here. They are working with Sports South to access a network of FFLs. From http://guntv.tv/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/guntv-sports-south-press-release.pdf:

Under the terms of the agreement, Sports South LLC will be the exclusive distributor of firearms through its Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer network throughout the U.S. Sports South will also distribute firearms accessories and other outdoor sporting goods on a non-exclusive basis.

It states in the article that there is a list of gun dealers the buyer gets to chose from. That means once the purchase is made and he/she selects a gun dealer they go there to pick it up AFTER they are cleared by that gun dealer with the background check.

Sports South is acting exactly like Davidsons does. My guess is that Davidsons will get a deposit and the final total will be collected at the local FFL. They ship to the FFL who does the final sale. SS and Davidsons have a list of whom they deal with and you could just pick one on the list. Want it to go to another FFL that they don't already have in their list? Have the FFL send a copy of their license and it will show up there. No big deal. Except to the anti-gun people who will claim that it is a sale over the internet, when really it isn't.

"GunTV, which is based in California..."
Any sentence containing both of the words "California" and "Gun" automatically make me about as uneasy as sitting down for breakfast at a table directly next to Dianne Feinstein - as she's inhaling a sausage omelet...
