Holster and sitting

Where do you all position your IWB holsters while your seated so that it's both comfortable and not pointed at a body part?

Yah 3:00 for me. I did trim back the leather a bit on the forward facing side of the holster. (crossbreed style) When I sat down the leather would dig into the top of my thigh, now it doesn't!

Mine sits at 8:00 (lefty) all the time. My personal rule is "Same gun, Same holster, Same place, every time."

4-5-ish-o'clock... I don't have a lot of options. Get it in a comfortable holster, though, and I'm good (Alien Gear is probably my favorite-that and 3Speed for no belt carry). Hopefully summer will lend itself to appendix... Finally have a holster that works there, but all the clothes that work with appendix carry are summer clothes!

at about 4 o'clock in a hybrid IWB, or at Noon with an AIWB holster or clip. I hve the trigger covered, so I don't really care if the firearm points at a body part. I have good trigger finger discipline so I'm not going to shoot myself. I am confident in my skills at handling a firearm, and trust in my training. Both positions are very comfy when sitting, standing, and even lying down.

I also carry between 4 and 5 o'clock and a comfortable holster is paramount. So much depends on the rig and the individual, as the comfort level of one person is usually not the same as the next person.

I carry at 3 oclock whether it is IWB or OWB, that makes sitting down more comfortable for me than any other position.

Why are you asking? Just experiment with your body type and find it!

That sounds so mind numbingly simple but it took me a while to try the 3 o'clock position. I felt that it would stick out too far and everyone would see it. I thought I needed to carry at 2, 4 or 5 o'clock and never really liked those. Some were okay while standing but terrible when sitting or there was some other reason I didn't like it. With certain shirts I still feel like it shows a bit too much. I am also surprised to read that so many people here carry a 3 o'clock.

Most men can carry at 3:00, I've noticed. I'm irritatingly narrow and can't do it, unfortunately. Women lucky enough to have curves often have a hard time with it there... guns don't curve with a waistline! lol

I wear my IWB at the 4 o'clock position. I carry a Sig 1911 Ultra in a custom holster with a separate mag pouch at the 10-11 position and it works fine. During the colder months I carry a Kahr CM9 in a pocket holster either in my jeans or jacket pocket.

4. I keep a separate pistol (my Sig P938) as a car gun. In a pommel bag over the hump with the gear shift stick up through the bag where a saddle horn would go. When seated and belted in the car its right beside my knee. Would go to it first rather than fumble with my IWB.
