Hoarding AMMO

I have been hoarding AMMO since 2001.
Here is how to hoard ammo successfully. Buy 1 box per payday. Shoot once per month and only shoot half of what you bought for the month. You still get to shoot and you slowly build up an ammo reserve that ticks off certain forum member(s). Most of all you are working towrds a goal of x number of rounds on hand at any given time. This will certainly make you evil and untrustworthy because it does not show up on the radar as buying thousands of rounds at once. remember to rotate old stock out first when shooting. Do not handle your ammo as it speeds corrosion and tarnishing. keep them in the origanal boxes.

Hoarding is a Liberal term. Just like "giving back" carbon credit the less fortunate etc. I like to think of it as "collecting" AMMO

Exactly. Hoarding is a term that the elitists tag anyone with that are smart enough to plan ahead and do a little preparing. They don't like prepared people. They like those that depend on Big Brother to provide their every need.

Is there a reason you're linking to a vendor of supposedly GREEN ammunition? It is much too expensive for my budget.

I'm not "Hoarding" ammo. I'm not "Hoarding" groceries. I'm not hoarding anything. However, my family's stability plan includes a provision for supplies to cover a prolonged period where I may be out of work.

I find that I tend to buy more ammo than I shoot, especially in rimfire. I shoot more of that than anything else. I also rotate out stock by writing on each box the month and year I bought it. I probably don't keep as much hand gun ammo in stock than I should (about 500 or so rounds for each caliber), but I do keep a better stock of rifle ammo. Its a hobby for me.:biggrin:

Same with guns...I may have bought a lot, but I am careless and have lost most of them.

I'm thinking of starting to hoard a little myself. Thanks for the MAC Ammo link. I thought it was a cool idea. Why is everyone bitchin' about a few extra dollars when they can get what they want online? I just don't get it. Online ammo always costs a little more and it's more likely they will have the stuff in stock before the bricks and mortar stores. I hate Walmart and Cabellas.

Did order the 9mm at Cabela's though..had the best price at the time, and free shipping to the store

The deadly effects of lead vapor poisoning are well established and documented. When I worked for a jeweler, we actually stopped performing repairs on items that had been manufactured or repaired with lead solder. It is really nasty stuff. I try to find lead free ammo if I am going to be shooting indoors.

Indoors. Okay, the extra expense is justified for that. I don't shoot at indoor ranges unless I've got a good reason; the range cost cuts into my ammo money.
