HK USP Compact 9mm Question

So, I have a friend who appears to be an HK fan more than a Glock fan. I was a little surprised, but thought OK. I have a G19 and it's a great gun. Before I go trying to find one to shoot, I'm curious to see others opinion of the USP Compact 9. The Glock 19 is just a little too big in my opinion, so I want to get something a bit smaller.

All thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

I can't speak for the 9, but love my USP .45 compact. Extremely reliable and accurate. In fact my only issue is it being too thick for summer time concealed carry.

Well, my USP compact 9mm, laid on top of my G19, shows that they're fairly similar in size so I don't think you'd be gaining much. Why not take a look at a Glock 26 if you want something smaller? At least it fits in with what you've already got on hand.

I have a usp40c, its physical dimensions are the same as the 9, just a little heavier. I have never had any issues concealing with an iwb holster. Both guns use cold hammer forged barrels so it isn't recommended to shoot lead so in that way they are similar. It is my opinion that the hk is higher quality than the glock, each generation of the glock has made improvements and had its teething pains (recalls) where the hk is basically the same gun since release. I do not like that with the glock you have to pull the trigger to release the striker before disassembly, many gun owners have had NDs because of the field striping process. I also like having a real safety on top of the "safety features", where the glock has documented cases of discharges because something snagged the trigger when being holstered. The buffer system on the hk compact is not as effective as the system on the full size but makes the recoil manageable to the point that my wife handles the 40 without issue, the 9 will be even more so, on that point I can't speak fire the glock.

I love my usp45. I also have an hk p30. It is about 1/2 inch taller and longer than the usp comp. But it is thinner and way more comfortable to hold. If youre leaning towards hk you owe it to yourself to get hands on a p30 before making a decision. It is by far the best straight out of the box 9mm ive ever shot.

I agree with jahshoewah. Please consider the hk P30. I originally wanted a USP compact, but after holding the USP compact and the P30, I decided to go with the P30 because it felt so much better in my hands. Btw, the P30 also comes with plates that allow you to better customize the grip to your hands. I've never had any problems with my hk, and would highly recommend them to anyone.

I have the usp 9mm compact and love it to death. It's my carry and works well for me in summer and winter. I'm a bigger guy so untucked shirts are the norm. Easy to shoot ou of the box. Easy to tear down and clean. I also like a physical safety switch. The P30 I've never held but if the build quality is anything like the standard HK it's a no brainier to pick one.
