I have a thing for the HK P7M8 and own several. One of my recent P7 purchases had given me some fits since I acquired it and the gun would not cock when the cocking system was engaged. This didn't happen all the time, just enough to be a PIA.
This particular gun was manufactured in 1982 and had been refinished (satin), which reduces it monetary value but increases it appeal value to me. I contacted HK Service department and was provided a return authorization and shipped the gun next day via UPS - that was yesterday.
I was surprised to get a call today from the HK gunsmith who worked on my gun and told me that the gun is in great shape, but he beloved that firing pin bushing was installed without enough slack. He made the repairs and will include a new firing pin spring just to be on the safe side. He also recommended that I take the gun to the range and work work in the pistol because the refinishing had made some of the tolerances a bit tight. We were on the phone for about 45 minutes and talked about all things gun related - 2nd amendment, concealed carry, open carry, gun values, gun restrictive states and city ordinances, etc. The gunsmith said he will include a card in the package and that if anything comes up with the gun, give him a call directly. All in all, I couldn't be happier with HK USA and their service. I will be following the gunsmiths 'orders' and working this P7 in at the range this weekend!
This is what service is all about..standing behind your product from the cradle to the grave and going beyond the norm to ensure that you have returning and happy customers!
