Hi-Point 9mm C9 for home protection?

I bought this C9 a few weeks ago and so far have been very happy with it. It was very affordable but after a few visits to the shooting range it has shown some good characteristics. Has anyone out there tried one? I have read a few blogs about and it does not paint a good picture about this handgun. What's your opinion?

I have it, bought it probably 8 years ago. Love it never had any problems. I used it for home protection and CCW, CCW wise its large and a bit heavy but it works. For the price i would have to say its a damn good gun!

Sorry

not a fan of poorly made cast zinc handguns. If it's the BEST you can afford you have to make do with it, if you can afford better you should. Self defense firearms are life and death tools.

hi point

I read a review on this handgun the guy said he draged it through the dirt then he ran over it with his car tring to break it . It did not break and was still able to fire it , he put about 1000 rounds through it and it never jammed. So i would say its worth the money. 8f for no other reason is because it did not jam 1 time. This was from one gun review

It will probably do just fine, but it is a possible life-saving tool... do YOU feel comfortable that it will save your life without fail 100% of the time? If so, then use it.

There is a reason why they are $140 new, they are cheaply constructed guns. Does that mean they are totally garbage, NO -- but they aren't made with the same materials as a higher priced Glock, Smith, Sig, etc.

I've heard lots of people say they like them, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice for personal protection.

I own a hi-point myself; it is the gun I carry when I ride my dirtbike, or while doing other "dumb" activities. They have a no-questions asked repair/replacement policy. I have had to use it once already myself, and not only did they repair the gun for free, but sent an additional mag when the sent the gun back to me. My hi-point was having problems feeding winchester ammo (I think it was Winchester), and I discovered that if I fed the ammo through my press and reseated the bullet to the same length that all others were seated, they fed just fine (in other words, the round was longer, due to the bullet not being seated as deep).

But for the price, wouldn't make sense to get 5 of this guns instead of just 1 of the so call great quality. I also believe that if WE put more pressure on the Hi-Point company they would in return make a few improvements. The gun is fairly priced to me, I just don't get why pay more.

You shouldn't if you're convinced that your happy with the quality of your highpoint.
