Has anyone tested the Herter's nylon jacketed rounds? How is it to clean up after shooting vs fmj? My understanding is that it is supposed to be cleaner and the nylon is supposed to lubricate the round as it travels through the bore. Thinking about getting some to run through my XDS .45. Your input would be appreciated!

I've shot about 500 rounds of it with no issues. Seems very clean and reliable. I will continue to use it as range ammo.

I accidentally got a box of 9mm I plan to shoot at the range tomorrow. I had not heard of it before. I'll probably shoot it first followed by brass fmj's. I have this vision in my head of melted blue nylon cluttering up the barrel ...

I bought a 1911 recently & the dealer GAVE ma a box of these to try. I was pleasantly surprised. No issues whatsoever. Can't say it was anymore dirty than otheres I shoot. If I find it for cheap, I will buy more . Shooting holes in paper does not require good quality ammo.

I fired 50 rounds of this stuff through two guns yesterday. Looking down the barrels after firing the nylon jackets they looked a bit dirty, bit not terrible. Followed by a number of fmj's and the guns were no dirtier than normal. I would absolutely buy it for range ammo if the price was good.

Sounds a lot like the Federal Premium 38 Special Nyclad HP. I'm a big fan of this load (sometimes also called the "Chief's Special Load") for defense use in air weight 38 snubs. Several authorities (including I believe Massad Ayoob) recommend this as the best non-+P 38 Special load, and it has a pretty good real world track record in defensive shootings. In my wife's 38 snub it shoots to point of aim and is very controllable in rapid shooting, and much more so than any +P's.

The big problem now is finding an indoor range that will allow the use of aluminum cased ammo! They can't recycle it lime brass, so they won't allow it even if you police your own casings.
