I'm in Chicago. (Not my choice) I'm not feeling overly safe and I have a ohio ccw but know the state if Illinois doesn't allow weapons. Anyone know what would happen to me if I decided to cc anyway. I do not want to break the law but I'm not going to risk my or wife's life for a wedding. Any insight on this would be great.

OtisM! You finally said something intelligent! You must be having an off day. You actually have a valid point about not being allowed to carry again if you get busted for carrying in Illinois. I used to live there (in the Rushville area) but moved out in the mid-fifties. One of the reasons I visit so seldom is their idiotic gun laws. screaminhemi: From your post, you don't live there, you're just there for a while. If that's correct, get it over with and leave as soon as you can. Don't take the risk and carry there. You could also try praying; that's sometimes a lifesaver.

If its for the weekend you will survive,I lived there 2 1/2 years long time ago,any perfume or spray device will sting eyes etc.,situational awareness is best of all,if a lil voice tells you not to stop there dont.
Chicago cops wont take crap,will take bribes,but for traffic offenses,not carrying a gun.Be lucky if caught 6 of your peers, dont carry you.
Lastly dont stop to ask a cop for directions ,some dont even speak much english,many will give directions that go in a circle,placing you right back where you were.Drive until you see something you recognize on a map,if going downtown take a cab or the L.
