I'm looking into match shooting ( steel challenge pro-am) an I'm not sure what gun to get Iv been looking at 2 guns a glock 22 in 40 and a rock island 1911 in 45 any suggestions tips or words of wisdom

If you want to be different you can always, get an M&P. I have the 9mm version and it's an amazing firearm, can't wait to get into IPSC/IDPA with it! I've shot the .40 cal version and that was a great firearm as well!!

The American Rifeman mag (NRA) just published a reveiw on the Springfield XDM 5.25. It's been made and designed for the competition pistol shooter in mind. It comes with 3 mags, a mag holder, a holster, match sites and it's ready to go out of the box to your USPSA shoot. 9mm or 45 (I think). The reviews on it were thumbs up all around.

This is going to make a lot of people on here mad but Im going to say it.

Screw the 1911, buy the Glock 22. I love mine.

You cant argue against having an accurate, reliable gun that carries 16 rounds of .40SW

I would definately choose the Glock 35.
It has a longer barrel and is better suited for competitive shooting imho.
This old timer seems to "like it a lot". :)

Glock 34, you don't need a .40 for what you want to do. 9mm ammo is also cheaper than .40

Unless you go with a tier 1 1911 I would avoid that system like the plague.

M&P Pro - 9mm- 5" Barrel. - Designed for just what you are wanting to do.
As much as I like my RIA. for what you are wanting to do. STI - 1911 if you are serious.

Good luck!
