I've only had to pull one time, but didn't have to use it.
I was trout fishing in a remote area of the Daniel Boone National Forest three years ago. When I walked back to my truck to eat lunch, two punks were looking in the windows of my truck. When I yelled at them, one turned towards me and took a step towards me with a tire iorn in his hand. I pulled my 9mm, his buddy yelled, "Look out, he has a gun!", and all I saw were elbows and *** holes as they fled up the road, got in a beat-up Toyota pickup, and took off.
I think these two were the same ones arrested two weeks later for breaking into vehicles in the parking area of a local lake - they and the vehicle matched the above description.
I was always told never to darw a weapon ubless you planned on using it, and I would have if he had taken another step towards me.
Oh yeah, when I yelled, "Help, Police!", noone showed up either. Go figure.

Never had to. Had that instance happened in my state it would have been much different as carry is not allowed in state parks. So I don't go into them.

i went to ocala don't know if it was state or national park but we were allowed to carry there and they even had outdoor gun ranges there but i didn't have a chance or the time to use it .......i was too busy drumming and dancing at a paralounge event they had there and the gal i went with wasn't to hip on guns so i couldn't convince her to go for a couple hours

I drew on stray dogs on two different occasions. both times they were being aggressive and both times I was on my own property.

I've had to pull in 1 instance in the 5 years I've carried Concealed (CC).

I just got off work and was driving home and coming up on 1 of our local malls. A guy in a jacked up Ford F150 and cut me off and almost got me rear ended. Of course I honked my horn and continued on my way. He eventually turned off the main road I was on and turned around. After I passed him he got behind me and started to honk his horn and ride my $&#. This time I actually had to run to that specific mall to pick up a few things.

He followed me in the parking lot at where I was parked. He park right behind my car and got out of his truck. Walking towards me with a knife in his hand and asking me why I honked my horn. Once I saw the knife I automatically put my hand on my 9mm Ruger (what I carried at the time) and told him I was armed and he needed to leave. He continued to walk towards me and I took a step back. I pulled and clicked off the safety and told him one more step I will use deadly force to protect myself. Another passenger in the truck call the police and told them I was waving as gun around and he was trying to stop me.

Of course this wasn't true. The police showed up and detained both of us and I explained my side of the story and how he approached me with a knife and I pulled because I felt threatened. A witness saw everything and confirmed my side of the story. He was arrested and I was let go.

Does blasting away with an air pistol at a stray cat that always dumped in my backyard count? If not, the answer is no.

Years ago was with about 20 friends camping with our families in the National Forest up on the East Verde River. In the middle of the night a Suburban full of about five or six drunk kids roared into camp almost running over a tent and squishing some of us. The men in our party all emerged from their tents with handguns (guess concealed while we slept). That put a whole new picture on things for the drunks and they mounted up and roared out of our camp and down the road.

nope.......have had my hand on the weapon a few times in a conspicuous manner a couple of times but never had to actually pull the weapon. been legally carrying for 20 + years.

Since I have started carrying, there has only been one time I was in a situation that could easily have turned violent and that was one of the rare instances that I didnt have a gun on me...

Ocala is a National Forest. Nice place but has been over hunted/fished for a long time.

Once when I was a kid in Omaha. I was driving down saddlecreek road and a carload of kids (my age at the time) pulled up next to me and started yelling that they were going to kick my ass at the next red light. I remember the kids in the back seat had bats.

Anyway I had a pistol on the seat and I picked it up and took aim at the driver who immediately veered left onto another road while someone in the back seat yelled "Oh S*** he's got a gun!". The last thing I heard was the idiot riding shot gun daring me to shoot as they drove away.

Second time a guy tried to mug me, he saw the pistol come out of my pocket and took off

Only once and I didn't have to fire it. The kids were little and we were traveling on the interstate. They needed something out of the back of the van so I pulled over to get it out. While I was going through their junk, two scruffy looking guys in a beat up old car pulled up behind me. They both got out of the car and started to separate as they approached. I had my hand on my gun holding it behind me. I moved the gun to my side. I asked them what they wanted. They saw the gun and started stuttering that they wanted directions to I-85. I informed them that they were already on I-85 and that they probably needed to be on their way. They quickly got in their car and sped off. I called the HP and gave them the plate number. Ten miles up the road, they were pulled over and both were cuffed and on the ground, surrounded by 4 or 5 officers. I've thought about that incident often and how close I was to a really bad situation. In those days, I generally carried only when I traveled. Since that incident, I've carried all the time.

Interesting Post. I am a CCW holder since age 21 except where not allowed. I had a learning experience 12 years ago when I patronized an all night print shop which posted a no gun sign and was mugged on my way out to my locked vehicle (containing my legally owned and should have been carrying concealed firearm). Jaw broken in two places and lost my wallet. BG never located. I now carry whenever I am awake and have a pistol at hand to get to my long guns when sleeping and do not patronize private businesses that do not allow concealed carry.

Still have a problem with my work place but am working on that.

So what kind of gun where you carrying at the time?

I started carrying a gun in my car when I was a teenager back in 1976 because of an incident that had occurred earlier to me on a then remote section of I-84 through Oregon. However, I have only been CC on my person since early 2011. The only time I ever felt that I needed my gun in my hand was 1 morning about a year ago. I had just rolled out of bed and started my coffee, then went back to the bedroom to get dressed when I heard some footsteps in my house. I knew my wife and kids were gone to work and school because of the stroll I had taken through the house before starting my coffee. When I heard the foot steps I grabbed my gun and asked, "who's there"? Then there was an immediate and panicked response, "don't shoot, don't shoot!" It was my daughter's boyfriend who had come over unannounced to get some of her school books that she had forgotten. After we had a good and relieved laugh, my phone rings: "Dad, Drew is coming over to get my books, so please don't shoot him".

EDIT: So to answer your question, NO, I have not had to pull my CC.

Twice. First time was this spring when I was coming home, a kid was trying to force the front door with a screwdriver. When the headlights hit him, he froze. When I got out of the truck, I stayed behind the door and told him to show me his hands while I unholstered my gun. He raised the screwdriver and started towards me and when I pointed my Walther at his chest, he dropped the screwdriver, which I found out was mine, and ran. Now i keep the tools anywhere but the garage.

Second time, I left my truck at Wallyworld to go with a friend. I as walking there to get it at about 11pm and when I was crossing the parking lot, a car fullmof "migrant workers" kept rolling past me. After a third pass I unsnapped and waited for them to stop. They all got out and I turned sideways to them and put the gun behind me. When I clicked the safety off, one of them said something in Spanish to the others and they ran back their car and sped off. They haven't been around since then.

The city recently knocked down the park pavillions where they have been living in the city park. All the "migrant workers" have moved on except one or two. Good riddance lol

I'm calling BS. I'm sure. Some guy keeps walking at you with a screwdriver while you have a pistol aimed at him. LIAR!!!!!!!! TROLL!!!! I'm sure you probably handed your weapon over to the guy with a screwdriver and begged for your life. ROFL!!! 👎

Never have, although I did unholster one time when I came home (lived a lot closer to the city then). Came home late one night to a broken window in the garage man-door. When I entered the house, my dog was sitting there with blood on his face and blood on the floor (garage, not main house). Unholstered to check out the house, appears no one had made entry at all, dog did his job well. No one ever bothered my place again until I moved to the country.
Dog was not hurt, not his blood, but positive someone's day was ruined.

Have always had a 'working breed' dog and always will. Well worth the cost IMHO.
