Handgun training?

How old should a young lady be before being taking hand gun training and what type of handgun would be best for training? In my state you must be at least 21 for a CCW permit.

IMO get her started when you think she can safely handle a firearm. Even though she has to be 21 for CCW she can take safety classes with you permission. I would start her off with a 22 or 38.

A young landy should start her hand gun training as soon as she can safely fire a gun.

I started my son with a BB pistol at 4/yo and the .22 at 7/yo. At 10 (a few months ago) he attended his first formal safety class, shoulda done it sooner but he wasnt exposed to guns much until this last year.

I agree with the .22. It's not as intimidating for first timers. Then when they get comfortable with that, let her move up to something more to her liking. I started my Granddaughters out with a .22 rifle when they had to hold the stock under their armpit to shoot. Gave them all the if's ands and or butts about handling the gun and it all went quite well.

Thank you for your feedback. I think that I will sign her up for professional handgun training at one of the local NRA approved training program. There, she should be able to try a couple of different calibers to get a feel of what works for her.
