Handgun & Rifle Training

I am a former Corrections Officer in South Carolina(7 years), and retired US Navy. The Navy did not teach handgun and rifle use. The Department of Corrections used revolvers and shotguns. I have a CWP in South Carolina. I am looking for one-on-one training with an NRA Instructor or current police officer in South Carolina. The
type of training I would like is both in the cleaning of my 9MM semi-automatic handgun and my AR-15 that I inherited from my father, as well as concealed carry training
for my safety and how to do so legally. As I mentioned, I do have a CWP, I have been trained to shoot and go to the range every month or so. Not as often as I would
like but considering family obligations AND the price of ammunition, I am not to go more often. I want to be well trained though in concealed carry and cleaning before I carry concealed for my safety, the safety of others, and to stay within the law. If anyone knows of someone I can contact in the Aiken/Columbia area please let me know.

I am an NRA instructor. If you want one on one training you can use the find a trainer on this site or contact the NRA and they should be able to help you out.

I commend you for wanting additional training in wish all had your mindset.

I need to ask...what are you not telling us? You don't know how to clean a pistol? You don't know how to clean an AR? Youtube has more information on cleaning and breaking down firearms than you could ever need. The manuals you got when you purchased your firearm should tell you what you need to know about cleaning. The post does not pass the smell test. The op has a cwp but doesn't know how to clean his pistol. Come On! Has the op ever shot a gun? Something is fishy.

There is nothing fishy here. I have a CWP, and yes I do know how to shoot my AR and the revolver I have as well as a 9mm S&W full-size I have. I am asking for one on one training because I learn better by doing and seeing things done in front of me and learning directly from someone that is very knowledgable in this topic. If this sounds fishy then I don't know what to say. Not everyone learns the same way and this will help my comfort level and therefore my safety.

I have trained with Gabe a few times. He is number 1 in my book The only thing I will say is I don't look at Gabe so much as a firearms instructor I look at him as a gun fighting instructors. My advice is if you train with Gabe be sure you have the basics down pat.

one thing ti always remember You have firearms instructors They will get you up to know how to handle a gun and get you to the point that your confident with handling guns. Then you have the other instructor I call them gun fighting instructors. With them the PC is pretty well out the door. You will be learning how to draw on the move how to shoot while on the move. That is way different the two steps to the left stop draw and fire Trust me on that. Many times near the end of the class you will use airsofts to do force on force. That will teach you what works and what doesn't work One thing by all means if your not 100% confident with your gun handling go to the firearms instructor. The gun fighting instructor you look at as going to graduate school. You need to be 100% confident in your ability first

lostone is correct what we teach at Link Removedl is reality based gunfighting. As long as you have your basic fundamentals you'll be good to go for our "Intermediate" classes If you want a tuneup or refresher start in one of the "Basic" classes. You';ll learn more in one of those than most schools teach in 4-5 days.

You won't go wrong with training with many instructors. I find that each one I've had will emphasize a different skill. By being diversely trained, you will be a stronger shooter. I would also encourage you to check into IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) competitions. That allows you to practice and push yourself. BTW, no one cares about your scores but you so don't be intimidated. To find a match near you, look up IDPA -- IDPA - Welcome!
