Handgun permit wait is rediculous.

I applied for my handgun permit all the way back in December!! I used the L1 fingerprinting services. They confirmed my purchase in January, well it's almost April and I haven't gotten anything.

If it's like in Indiana, the L1 fingerprinting is just a means to "speed up" the process. Even though it's sped up will not make it quick when there's been such a rush by so many to get a permit before it's no longer available.

Mine took 34 days prior to this mess, daughters took around 2 months at beginning of this mess. Aunt applied in Jan and cousin in Feb both still waiting. It's just that there is such a backlog on them with the numbers. Be patient and it will get there and then you'll be like the rest of us... Get up dress, strap EDC on, and go about your day wondering why in the world we stressed it so much... a couple extra on the wait wasn't so bad.... Then again, got up in a rush one day and had to go help someone and got out at store, went to make sure pistol wasn't showing and realized I'd forgotten it and my heart sank....

If they have a website like Arkansas does, check it... if like Indiana has a number, don't bother... the answer is generic...

What state are you in? I can tell you that VA is running around 90 calendar days, Florida is about the same. NH is fast, Maine is very backlogged.

I know North Carolina was running behind at the beginning of the year because of the huge surge..but I took the CC course and turned in my paperwork/fingerprints on Feb 18th and got my CCW permit a month later. You may want to contact your sheriff department. I had to go pick mine up and show a passport since I was born overseas as military dependent.

Virginia has 45 days to approve or deny your permit. If it is not done within the 45 days, the receipt of your application becomes a de facto permit valid until your permit is approved or denied. My permit took 43 days in Loudoun County.

I understand that. But all the way back in December. I wouldn't be so mad if I could check on my Status on it but I can't even do that.

Back in August when I got my CCW I waited about 10 days until I received it in the mail. Not sure what the waits are like now but I was impressed.

Picked up mine a couple of years ago when they started to issue them in Wis. There was a big rush in the begining with everyone applying. I was ready and sent it in early. The Wisconsin permit took 15 days, and the Arizona was here in 24.

With the amount of guns being purchased, I'll bet the concealed permit applications are astronomical.

I applied in April 2012, not expecting to get it till June/July 2013.... NY SUCKS

I was fingerprinted on Jan 22 in Indiana and still waiting. My friend and his wife applied for a change of address on theirs the week after Christmas and are still waiting. Last week I talked to a guy who teaches Utah, Arizona and Florida and was told that Utah is over 74 days. Supposed to be approved in 60.

I received mine here in NM. in about 6 weeks. They had problems scanning My Wife's prints, so the cards had to be sent in for manual cataloging. Still waiting, but the State office informed her 2 weeks ago she was approved, but no license yet. Still no mail yet today, but Maybe!!!!

So 'scuse me for my ignorance, but is all this fingerprinting going on to get a permit to carry, or just for the "right" of buying/owning a weapon?

Either way, this is one of the most shocking active threads on the board right now. I had no idea how restricted y'all were from exercising your "rights" in some other parts of the country. It begs the question, who are the lawbreakers where y'all live, the state and local governments/sheriffs/PDs who violate your rights, or those of you who ignore the unconstitutional usurpations of your rights and carry/buy/sell anyway?

The difference between most states and VA, is on the 46th day, your receipt for your CHP will become your carry permit until you get the real one in the mail.

I feel your pain. I had to wait 90 days for mine.

Depends in Florida if you do it at a DACS office or by mail. Appointments at the local DACS office is a three week wait and then about two weeks to get it. By mail, your time is about right.

In Florida, it is for the concealed license or a D&G license that you get fingerprinted for. No permits just to buy. And FL's CW&FL removes the waiting period from purchase to pickup.

Waiting one year (next week). Been sitting on the judges desk apparently for 3 months now. Do you have to ask? Good old Erie County, NY
