Halloween City [Seeking confirms from other locations]

My wife and I took a lunch break together and fled our respective workplaces for a bit. We went to a nearby shopping center that had a location of Halloween City temporarily filling a long-vacant property. We walked in, browsed for a short while, before we turned around and headed out the entrance.

Before we made it out the door, I noticed something. On the wall, beside the door, facing away from the outside world, on plain 8½" x 11" paper in black ink was a text-only sign that said something to the effect of "No weapons permitted of any kind in the store." In other words, to know you've entered a gun-free zone, you have to walk in, turn around 180°, and see if you can find the otherwise plain-looking sign. They didn't even have the decency to put a no smoking barrels icon on it or make it visible from the outside!

I'm curious if anyone else has noted the same at some other locations. Their parent company, Party City, has a location in the same shopping center that has no postings (to my recent recollection) whatsoever.

only place in florida i've seen a no guns sign was at the courthouse i don't even think the post office has one but next time i'm there i'll check because i know we are not allowed to carry in post offices either here.......but i've never seen a no carry sign on a store or even my bank which i do on occasion walk in rather than use the drive thru teller......those signs hold no weight here in florida unless it's a federal building post office or courthouse

Post Office is Federal and always a no no. Can not even have gun in parking lot if it is owned by Feds.

Without knowing your location I can't say. But in Arkansas all "no weapon" signs have to be visible 10' form main entrance and a certain size.

handgunlaw.us has all gun laws for every state.

Be safe,
Jerry

This would be Virginia. No signage standards exist, thus their sign (being on private property) would likely be upheld as valid by letter of the law. Had I been discovered to be carrying before seeing the sign, I imagine a challenge to a resultant trespassing charge would be an easy victory. Not that being able to challenge it really matters to me. Whether the sign is clear on the front door or upside-down on the back wall, if I see it, I'm out, and they get not a dime from me. And believe me, I'm looking.
