Had to draw my weapon for the first time

On Sat the 23 my wife arrived home from shopping only to be confronted by a pit bull that had escaped from the neighbors yard and it had her pinned between the car and the garage wall growling, just as I was going to lower the hammer with my 45 the neighbor grabbed the dog by the collar and pulled him away and started cussing at me.my wife called 911 and just as the deputies arrived the dog broke loose from the neighbor and came at my wife again and I did lower the hammer, the deputy arrested the neighbor and told me that no charges would be filed against me because he said that they had had several complaints from the dog before from other neighbors.

If you own a dog you may wish to keep an eye on it for the next little while in case your neighbor decides to retaliate

Let me get this straight:

This drooling, inbred imbecile let his dog run loose so that it attacked your wife on YOUR property, TWICE, and he swore at YOU?

He sounds to me like his mother mated with her brother, then drank a fifth of gin a day while she was pregnant.

He sounds dumb enough to try something REALLY stupid.

Don't be surprised if you have to send him to the same place his dog went.

D@mn... poor wife, poor dog. (Not his fault, owner should have trained him properly!)

Glad you were able to stop him... You can bet he's happier now! Thank goodness it wasn't worse.

FWIW, about a decade ago I had to bust a Rot with a .44mag lever gun because it wouldn't stop coming onto our property and attacking our dog. We had called the police two times before about the dog, LE got statements and told the owner (a body shop owner down the road) to keep his dog locked up or it will be taken by animal control or be killed one day. Well, they were right... I was about 16 at the time and my mother ran into my room and told me the "GD dog is back, Bobby!", so I grabbed a weapon I knew would ensure he would never give us problem again and ran to the back porch. I came out at about the time the dog reached our swimming pool (about 15yds away) and looking for our dog, who was on the porch... Without hesitating I shouldered the carbine and fired. BOOM!!! No more Rot to worry about... we called the cops and told them, they came down and did their usual and then informed the owner (they had his # by now) his dog was dead and asked if he wanted to come pick it up. The guy was mad as hell at us but, hey... you had your chances.

Sorry, don't intend to jack the thread from the OP.

The saddest part is that it was not the dog's fault. The neighbor apparently was too stupid to train the animal. Damn shame but, as much as I love dogs, I'd have done the same to protect my family.
