Michael Lawlor, Connecticut's undersecretary for criminal justice planning and policy, believes the state's gun seizure law could have prevented the killings of 20 first-graders and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012, if police had been made aware that gunman Adam Lanza had mental health problems and access to his mother's legally owned guns.

So, the state would have seized the mother's legally owned guns if her son was determined to be mentally ill? Of course, there must be a registry of guns first....

Doesn't the due process have to come before the taking?

Absolutely not. Many states will take the gun upon issuance of a protection order, which in itself violates the freedom to move about the country unmolested. If gun owners don't do something about this problem anti-gunners will eventually win. I believe we're in the end days of gun ownership. In a few more generations...
