Gun laws are a joke and just there to rip you off

I want to write about my poor experience in trying to follow the rules and purchasing a firearm.

Before I even thought about purchasing a gun I took a concealed weapons class and sent off my permit.

I then found a gun I wanted online and purchased it

Gun was sent to a local Gun shop

I paid the $35 fee for transfer and a background check, my background check was denied and I was given an appeal form to fill out.

I had to drive to the police station pay $15 dollars to get my fingerprints and then go to the post office and pay $25 dollars to make sure the letter gets there asap and is signed for.

The gun shop calls me and tells me they cannot hold the gun and will send it back.

The online store where I purchased the gun is charging me a 10% restocking fee plus $25.00 shipping (Total around $80.00)

I called today to check the status of my concealed weapons permit because all of this had me thinking I was probably going to be denied.

My concealed weapons permit has been issued and is on its way to me.

I have a clean record never been arrested or anything.

The appeals form says that If approved I will be sent a form to purchase a firearm ONE time.

So my question is this. Apart from shafting me and stealing more money out of my pocket while at the same time denying me the right to purchase a firearm to protect myself what good are these laws?

I read online that you can go to a gun show and get a gun no problem or have one gifted to you with no problem yet if I try to do it the right way I get screwed every which way.

Total Money Ripped off from me: $155.00

Please don't buy into that "gun show loophole" crap perpetuated by the anti-gun groups. They are called private transactions/sales and are perfectly legal. Private sales/transaction when performed in accordance with the law are just as much "the right way" to buy/sell guns as going through a dealer is.

If you decide to purchase a gun in a private transaction, do not mention the NICS denial. A NICS denial in no way prohibits you from purchasing a firearm or possessing a firearm - it only prohibits an FFL from transferring a gun to you.

Here's what I was told when my purchace was delayed. The manager told me that he has many LEO's both Fed and local who are denied due to identity crossover, same name, or identity stolen. Check out my post on the UPIN a couple of posts up is the link.

It sounds like you were "screwed" because you didn't wait for your permit and didn't stop in at the police station first. I don't know the laws in your state, but I followed the procedure in my state to the T and had absolutely no problems. I took the CCW class, got my certificate, went to the courthouse to get my ID, went to the police station for the background check and purchase permit. All before ever attempting to buy a gun. It also wasn't that expensive.

Thanks for all your help guys. I just called the FBI NICS number and the lady took my information to send me a packet to fill out for the UPIN. Right now the waiting time is 117 days so I asked her the following.

So you are telling me I cannot purchase a firearm to protect myself for almost half of the year until I get a UPIN? And her answer was "probably not".

I have a huge smile on my face as you all can probably tell >: |

A special thank you to the jerk off who has a name similar to mine or whatever that is causing such problems for me. Guess its just me and a baseball bat until next year. OH YEAH I have to have my finger prints taken AGAIN and mail it out to a "different department" that deals with the UPIN. There goes another $40 bucks. Nice guys and law abiding citizens finish last.

As far as I know you dont need a ccw permit to buy a gun to keep at home. I did follow the rules. I just decided to listen to the online forums and buy from a reputable dealer online rather than getting ripped off at a B&M shop. Regardless, Im glad you had zero problems in obtaining yours. Maybe I can call you after the cops if I need to protect myself.

The Gun shop you dealt with, seems less then what I would expect. They might have a made a mistake, Do some reshearch I know I would, especialy if you are getting your permit. No transfer took place why the fee? Or let it go and call it a learning experience.

Aigc no offense meant!
I again reiterate: Bloomberg and his cronies are out to make a case for sales on the internet. Calling it the Internet Loop Hole. They already created a Gun Show Loophole by buying guns from gun show attendees and making the press release out in such a way that we all felt the Gun Show Dealers were doing something wrong so efem. Truth was hugely different.

If the OP suddenly asks if anyone here will sell him a gun then we are being trolled.
If the OP'er does not work for Bloomberg my apologies. No harm no foul.
Just sayin.

im in florida. all i can do is wait for a reply. garbage for sure

What is preventing you from buying a firearm in a private party transaction from another Florida resident now? Especially after you get your CCW permit (which will come before your NICS appeal) to show the private party?

Um, if you're that concerned about your immediate safety, open the classifieds, find a gun for sale, and buy it.
