grips for glocks

i live in fl and have to carry iwb the new gen 4 glock has a very aggresive hand grip and it really starts to bother me after an hour against my skin.can someone like you tell me what you think is the best hand grip?pachmayr got my interest but hate to spend money when there might be something better out there.thanks in advance.by the way this is a terrific website.rob

Your Gen 4 is similar to my Gen 3 RTF type grip, here's what I did and you'll most likely say its crazy but it worked.

Unload the weapon, remove the slide/barrel so you only have the polymer frame. Use 100 grit sandpaper and smooth to your liking. When you have it as you like, use compressed air to clean. Take a mini butane torch like the ones used by chefs to caramelize creme`brulee and soften the remaining ridges and use the back of a spoon to further flatten the ridges. You will still have enough texture for a secure grip but not too rough to skin.

Personally, I like just putting skateboard tape on the factory grips; this really helps if you have blood or sweat on your hands. I'm on my phone and not sure what you mean by aggressive, my new Glock 30 and my older Glock 22 don't seem that way; does yours have finger grooves or something? I will look it up when I get home.

if your grips feel agressive ..beat them down with a fine sand paper (100 and then use fine for the touch up) until you can like the surface of the grip... I would not use the touche if you have not ever done it. I made a hole in one of my grips that way...

so be careful with that.

Typically I'd suggest a Talon, but your trying to accomplish the opposite. I'd say your best best is a Houge Slip-On. I'm typically not a fan of slip on grips (as opposed to OE replacements) But with the Glocks they look ok. Still have a great grip but a softer more rubbery feel. I'd really recommended thinking twice by doing some type of permanent mod to a $500+ polymer frame!

I like the Brooks A-Grip. I've got them on all of my glocks.

I had a Hogue Hand-all on my 2nd Gen. Glock 22 for a while, but over the years the rubber began to relax and it started rotating on the grip frame. I imagine that with the RTF frames, that's less likely.

If you don't find and alternative grip I'd suggest going with a Kholster, uncut they have a complete barrier between you and the gun, I trimmed mine but it still never touches my skin even without an undershirt

New Hogue Universal Slip On Grip is what I use. Got it off Ebay $12.00 del;ivered. Tight fit, no slip.

The slip-on grips will typically make your grip larger in the hand. If that's not an issue for you personally then I'd suggest picking up a Hogue over-grip and be done with it. If that's not an option for you, then definitely knock down that Gen 4 texture just a touch. It won't take very much as those have the box-style stippling rather than the dot-style stippling that's on the RTF Gen 3's.

I have a G17 in RTF Gen 3 and I absolutely know how you feel. Against bare skin it's like rough grit sandpaper directly on the body. Against clothing it just roughs up the material, it can ruin Under Armor type shirts rather quickly.

One of my students suggested a decal grip some time ago to give it more of the feel of felt, but the tackiness of the RTF grip type. I checked his out and if I didn't have issues with it increasing the grip size I'd be willing to give that a shot.
