Cant say I would take the shot through glass when the bad guy is right next to the victim. Im sure if the cop had missed or injured the victim he would get sued for everything he owns.

It could have gone bad quickly that is for sure...
The guy locked himself in from what I understand, and the officer felt he was ready to hurt the clerk.

The video report said the clerk went to the hospital and the extent of their injuries was unknown at this time. Rather than extent, my question would be what/who was the source of their injuries?

Long as it wasn't a bullet hole I'm good with it.
Not gonna second guess the deputy on this one.

As a former store clerk, I'd HAPPILY allow one of our deputies to take that shot if I ever found myself in that situation!!

Then again, I know plenty of local LEO that can barely break windows in a phone booth... so I guess it depends on who was taking the shot.

What if it was a bullet hole though?

And I didn't say anything about second guessing anybody, I just said it was a question I was more interested in than the extent of their injuries. To truly evaluate the scenario, we need to know what really happened. As long as the clerk survives their injuries, wherever they came from, I guess I'd be "good with it" no matter who was the source, but for now it's still a missing part of the puzzle for after-action evaluation.

Difficult for me to form an opinion on such things any more. I have no faith in anything the media says anymore. As long as the victim is alive and well, and the perpetrator has gotten what he deserves, all is well I guess.

The clerk lived...BG was shot...I don't see any controversy here. Just glad he was a good shot.

I guess if it was a bullet hole, that would imply that the deputy either overestimated his skill or took the shot when it wasn't safe to do so, or both.
I might do some second guessing in that case.

I don't think that anyone can form an opinion on what the Deputy did unless they were in the same situation with everything being the same as he faced.

All that needs to be said is

GOOD SHOOT!

Well, since you said that in your OP, what was the point of making a thread about it? Just so you could come back and demand that no one even express any curiosity about where the clerk's injuries came from? If the clerk does happen to have a bullet hole (or shrapnel holes), is that really "all that needs to be said?" Won't the deputy's department be investigating how good a shoot it was in that case?

Honestly, I don't get why no one should ask questions about the scenario. What's the big deal?
