I'm taking the family to see TDKR in IMAX at the Grand 18 in Winston-Salem tomorrow. Does anyone know if it's posted as a prohibiting firearms?

Thanks!

edit: nevermind, looks like carrying in a movie theater is a no go. Weird.

n light of the recent tragic mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado, be sure to adhere to the North Carolina concealed carry laws.

The law for North Carolina is as follows:

N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14‑269.3 provides “It shall be unlawful for any person to carry any gun, rifle, or pistol into any assembly where a fee has been charged for admission. . . .”

"Accordingly, carrying a weapon either openly or concealed into a movie theater where an admission has been charged is illegal", according to Debbie Tanna, the spokesman for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. "Even a concealed carry permit does not authorize the holder of the permit to take a gun into such an assembly."

Places that charge admission in NC are no-go per state law. Does not have to be posted...........................................

The Aurora Colorado shooting was a clear win for gun control advocates, in that the effectiveness of preventing handguns in their theater was 100%... with the exception of the gunman, of course. Those patrons were made sitting ducks in a shooting gallery by the folly of having that no guns rule. Now, you couldn't get me near one of the theaters. My situational awareness tells me that crooks will be targeting the dimly lit parking lots of known to be unarmed patrons late at night, and I just don't need to make myself a victim.

What? :fie: What the hell kind of law is that?

When a business posts a no weapons sign it doesn't mean that they arre anti-second amendment. In fact often the owner has a CCW himself. In our world of litigation, insurance companies and lawsuits it is often done to sheepishly protect the owner should something go wrong.

Victims are already naming the theater in the CO shooting among the defendents in planned civil action. The owner is damned if he allows guns and damned if he doesn't.

I don't understand why the state feels that they should limit where a CC permit holder can and can not carry a conceal weapon. Don't they realize that the bad guys don't follow the law?
