Unrestricted in Ny means carry any time any where except NYCity .
We have 4 restrictions, hunting target, work, home defense, then there is unrestricted.

I guess my job is what helped me get it. Which is a college cop, but I've known some cops that got hunting and target on their permits.

Can I ask why there are restrictions on "permits". This sounds so nanny state. Does the bad guy get a restriction that says no stickups, bank robberies, or forcible rapes. My drivers license has restrictions...I cannot operate a motor vehicle if I am blind!!! God am I lucky I live in Virginia.

I spoke to a fellow at Wolverine Sports. (Shooting range), the other day. He was a retired LEO. Moved to upstate NY, & had just gotten his permit.
Said he splits his time between here & NY.

Congrats! I just did the shooting portion of mine on Wednesday and sent the paperwork off on Thrusday.

That's not accurate. There are quite a number of restrictions and multiple restrictions on some types of permits. Home defense is not one of them. NY will not issue a permit that says defense anywhere on it.
