going to ssi court today

OP:

With the mental health stuff, if you are ever hospitalized, MAKE SURE YOU ARE VOLUNTARILY COMMITTED. If you are ever involuntarily committed, you lose your gun rights. You can go to court in the future to get your rights back, but then you have to hire a lawyer at $200/hr and are at the mercy of the judge.
In some states one must also avoid staying at a county or state health facility even voluntarily. They enter the data in the state mental health system and it pops on a background check for a CCW permit. Always use a private care facility.

How long do you guys think it should take for my first check to come . Went to court on the 18th the judge approved it at court .

Should be within a couple of months. The first check should include all monies due to you back to the original date of disability.

So does my wife 40 hours every week . Sorry if I was able to work don't you think I'd rather make like 1000 a month like my wife then 700$ on Ssi. ?

I don’t know.

To be completely honest the post in which you admitted to trolling this site has poisoned the well and I don’t believe most of what you say.

Kind of curious how one supports three people and has money for a gun and a holster and a car and an Xbox on 1700$ a month though

When you have a kid you get about 6k back in taxes that's where my stuff came from . We live off of over 1000 a month and get food stamps . My wife's dad bought our car . We get 134 in cash on the first being low income . My money plus my wife's when it starts soon will be 1700

I doubt you'll get $700 though. They'll deduct it because of your wife's salary. I don't know that for sure but I have $55 deducted off mine because of my living arrangement. I live with my sister so I'm legally homeless.

It said online if she makes 1040 or less but then they minus 300 for a kid . She's right under the full amount. That would be great though even 55$ off is better then 0 that's what I bring in now

Yeah how long after you get approved . Like for instance I went to court Tuesday and judge within two minutes approved me . How long till I get the letters , then cash do you think ?

I don't know I have to work all week for my money
Treo, that's cold. What if next week you suffer a massive heart attack. They save your life but there is some brain damage from the stroke that follows. You can't drive, can't walk well, can't speak well, have weakness and some paralysis.

I'll tell you what happens. You begin a slide into depression. It's called dysthymia (a depression caused by onset of debilitating medical conditions). You feel you're no longer a man. Because the man you knew is gone leaving just a shell. You look at other men and they define what you should be able to do. You can't take the kids to the playground. You are no longer a little-league coach. You can't play golf, softball, ride your motorcycle , etc. Your wife incurs a loss of consortium. You can't be the husband you want to be. Can't go on vacation, etc.

And you can't earn anymore. That's a big hit to a prideful man. You make that awful trip the the social security office and apply for disability benefits. You lack insurance coverage for ongoing health needs because it takes over a year for Medicare to kick in. So you deplete your bank account. You might even lose your home. You might be relegated to a one bedroom apartment and use food stamps to get through the month. All because a little tiny clot got caught in an artery in your heart. It wasn't your fault, it just happened. But you get to wear the hat of disability, shame and poverty for life. Now, some healthy wage earner comes along and says you have no right to an iphone, xbox or car. You have no right to dignity because you're on the public dole. Well, thank God for that public dole. It's the safety net we all need when the game changes.

Think about this as it can happen tomorrow. Make sure you have a good private disability insurance policy because SS is not enough.

I wrote the other day on Facebook how the little things in life are what we take for granted . Being able to do laundry or shop for food with out the help of your wife. People take there health for granted being able to walk to the store and carry the items home . It's not fun taking a million meds a day while constantly having back pain and pain in my ribs to the point where I lay down most of the day . I once took for granted being more normal and being able to work . Since my daughter has been born she hasn't had her own room , and soon we are going to be able to provide that . Yah 1700 a month isn't a lot to live off of , but we live off of less now and are ok. Treo doesn't understand how it is . The day almost two years ago when I was working fine and the doctor said I think he needs open heart surgery , I have been non stop sick , the only medicine that helps me breath better and not be in pain is pot .that doesn't include what he said above . Imagine how you would feel that your wife works and you stay home with a four year old because you can't even work at McDonald's . How depressed you would feel . Imagine crying because not one person even your wife understands. I didn't troll this story like you might think . This is my life and how it is . I went to Ssi court and I cryed after my two minutes court case because they didn't even ask about jobs I could do . It's terrible to feel your that bad off that you can't work . Ill trade you a day in my shoes a good day and I bet you wouldn't judge me again . Imagine blowing up over the littlest things because you just can't take much more . Imagine having to try a million different meds just to get a good nights sleep and still can't . Imagine when your at the store and your kid says I want this toy and you see it's five bucks and can't afford that because your behind in every bill but your rent . I might have a older car that needs work . A older phone that needs a upgrade , and a one bedroom place for now , but I do have my wife that has stuck by my side through a lot . She supported me while I wasn't on Ssi . I haven't even got the award letter and I know I won . Now I got to wait another month or two for money . Now put your self in my shoes . Yeah speaking of shoes and cloths I haven't got new cloths in about three years my kid gets hand me downs . Same with my wife . My shoes are uncomfortable anymore but I don't have the 100$ for a new pair . I don't even have the ten bucks for a bag of new socks

Yeah and bc you left out the part when he really need the Ssi and applies he's got to wait . Lol after the wait it comes back no then you wait and wait and wait , because they don't care you could be dying and they would say I feel your able to work on the off time of dying

Two things:

1 - Having a medical disability that restricts what's considered normal activity and makes one unemployable is from personal experience a MoFo to deal with, no question.

2 - Rambling on the internet about "whoa is me" is pathetic.

"I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself."
- David Herbert Lawrence

I understand that there are people in the world who are medically unable to work. I also understand that there is a safety net in place for such people. By and large, I don’t have a problem with that.

Having said that, I would like to remind you that we are talking about a poster who has openly admitted that he amuses himself by trolling this forum, even though he has since removed that post.

Why should I believe anything he chooses to post? Especially when what he’s posting doesn’t match medical facts? What Doctor is dumb enough to write for MMJ for a patient who claims major respiratory issues?

Long story short, I don’t buy his story. I think he’s either making it up of whole cloth or the situation is nominally true but he is, in fact, gaming the system.

Have any of you who are defending him actually seen his medical records? What actual evidence has he presented to confirm his story?
