going to ssi court today

I know I’m probably going to piss some folks off and I’m sorry but this thread disgusts me. The OP seems to be able to afford an Iphone, and a car and an Xbox but is whining because he wants his free health care (it actually isn’t free my taxes pay for it).

Where’s my free health care?

I have to actually work for a living and while my company does offer health benefits it would cost half my paycheck to pay for them ( the other half already goes to pay for the OP’s) I also don’t have a nice car like the OP I get around on a 5 year old, second hand Chinese motor bike so my wife can use the 16 year old car to get back and forth to her job (no free health care for her either).

I just got home from a 12 hour shift at work and my feet are aching, I do my entire job on my feet and I probably walked about 15 miles today. I’m glad I got the overtime though because we have a house note to make (no Xbox or cable for us) and there’s no such thing as extra money.

I’m sorry but there is something wrong with America on a very basic level if the OP can sit on his ass living the life of leisure on welfare while working Americans are eating out of food banks to make ends meet.

Don't you think if I was able to work I would . I worked two jobs for a while . I understand where you are coming from though . I don't have cable or any awesome stuff sure I have a iPhone a free one. Not a four . My daughter and me and my wife share one room because my wife only makes so much and we depend on her income . We have a 1998 ford . I don't even own a video game for my ps3 nor do I have the money for Netflix anymore . If I worked every penny that I earned would be used to pay for my medical cost .

I know we've been at odds about a lot of subjects in here, Boxin, but from one brother to another. Best of luck!

Consider this: Only go to indoor ranges that have high volume fresh air make up. Only use totally enclosed ammunition to reduce your exposure to atomized lead. Try finding an out door range to shoot at.

I used to work a job would get up at six am wait outside in the cold till nine am then work till eight then didn't get home until ten . Five days a week I know what a long working day is . I'm sorry if it comes off like I am playing a game with Ssi , but I am grateful there is something out there that is able to give me a chance at a normal life . Be glad you have a house treo because I would trade you places in a second . Your able to work . You don't have to wake up everyday in constant pain , constantly sick to the point of doing things around your house become impossible . Be glad you have your health I am going to be on oxygen by the time I am 30 . I didn't ask for the birth defects I was born with , it just happened that way .

Appreciate your post - not because I completely agree with it, but at least it shows some degree of consistency. Trying to figure it out - how come, when it is "one of your own" dependency is just a-okay - but those "other" people....f'in' moochers.

Dark: As usual you are barking up the wrong tree. First, I don't know the ethnicity of the kid and, second, I don't care. I feel that ALL people who are in need, through no fault of their own, should be able to benefit from the programs we have available. The exception is with those who are able to work and sit on their rear ends and take advantage of the system. That has been my stand all along. Take the freeloaders off the teat. Now you may disagree with that but it is that group (any and all races)that are killing the system. The way things are going, they will all be SOL because the teat is drying up.

Welcome to that dreaded 47%...I hope you can educate those here about who and what they are talking about when they call people "dependent".

Cheap shot. You really do suffer from cranial-rectum inversion don't you? I can't remember a single post in here that ever said that someone that really needed the support should not get it. Grow up man and join the real world.

Got to disagree with you on this one Treo. If what Boxin is saying is true about his condition, he is a prime example of what the system is designed to help with, or at least it is supposed to.

If someone is truly medically incapable of working and needs the assistance, that's what the safety net in the system is for. Conditions like Boxin is describing and gaming the system are different scenarios. One needs support and one needs arrested.

When it's someone that has a legitimate medical reason for needing assistance from the system, it's one thing.

When someone has too many kids, or is too fat, or has a limp and doesn't want to work or is just a plain lazy slug and wants assistance, it a whole different ball game.

And I think you'll find it is the latter that most disapprove of not the former.

Everything I have posted is honest 100 percent . I could have played the system and lied to get it quicker . I had to get a lawyer go to court . I also delt with Ssi for almost two years while living on 1000 a month from my wife's salary . Don't you think if I could have worked I would have ? I thank the people who are defending what I am saying . I understand why there mad , there mad about people sucking the system . And because of those people I had to fight for my Ssi . It should be the other way around

If that was directed at me please feel free to point out my "dependency"

Given XBOXIN is a self admitted troll, I don’t know how much of this is true and how much isn’t; so I don’t know if he’s gaming the system or not. Given the character he presents here, I'd say he is though. (I will say I've never heard of a respirator called an NICU as Flan said NICU is a ward not a piece of equipment)

I do know that I don’t have a free Iphone and I know that something is drastically wrong in this country when people on the dole are in better shape than people that work for a living.

Personally I think we need to go back to the days when being on welfare was a something to be ashamed of, maybe it would give people an incentive to get off of it.

Hey treo should I upload pics of proof seriously .... Call rainbows baby and children in Ohio Cleveland Ohio . And ask them . I was on a machine that pumped oxygen into my lungs for a week , then they told my mom good luck he may die . Lay off my nuts . I am not milking anything . I'm done with responding to you ill let everyone handle you in this forum

I pay for my phone bill I didn't get a fancy phone it was free . Go ride your moped I think your going to be late to walk 20 miles while at work

XBOXIN, you don't need to justify an iPhone, a car or anything else you have. My point is that you're entitled to help because you're truly disabled. This is exactly what the system was designed to do. You should not have to justify a few things that give pleasure... like a car, cable, xbox, iphone, etc. to anyone. Just because someone has a disability doesn't mean they should give up the things everyone has. It's about dignity. Ignore the critics.

I think you are failing to understand what Treo is getting at w/ the NICU comments. A respirator, incubator, CPAP, etc are all machines IN a NICU. A NICU is not something that can be connected to a child. It's not another name for a single piece of machinery.

Well I was in the nicu center attached to some machine that pumped oxygen through my lungs and kept me alive . It's the cause of the problems I have today. Because I was on it for so long as a test baby . I was like the 60th baby in the country to be on this new machine at the time . Glad it saved my life though . I would have missed out on so much.

OP:

With the mental health stuff, if you are ever hospitalized, MAKE SURE YOU ARE VOLUNTARILY COMMITTED. If you are ever involuntarily committed, you lose your gun rights. You can go to court in the future to get your rights back, but then you have to hire a lawyer at $200/hr and are at the mercy of the judge.

I'm not crazy like that lol I understand and know that though

Now this I agree with! There was a time when the welfare system was established to help those that were really in need of a leg up to get back on their feet. During that same time the mystique of being on welfare was enough to incentivize the recipients to get off their butts and get work.

In some cases, I don't thank that mystique carries as much scorn as it used to.
