Glock Trigger Mod

Has anyone out there had experience with the Glock trigger mod that lightens the trigger pull to 3.5lbs? Particularly with the G23, and more particularly a gen4? If so, does it have any affect on follow up shots during rapid fire bursts or double taps? I'm told the lighter pull inceases accuracy, but I'm curious if it would have a negative affect on quick follow ups due to the gun not being steady and possibly too pre mature of a pull.

Have a gun smith do it. Places like Bills in MN it's $50 and they do it all for you.
People like it. Wouldn't lighten it in a carry gun though.

I put it in my Gen 3, 22 and Gen 4, 27. Removed it from the 27 because it was too light for me on that small of a gun. Shooting IDPA, my groups opened up due to too premature of a pull as you said. With the 23 in the middle, it might be ok. I agree Beachbum, 3.5 is too light for my carry gun.

A friend of mine had a 3.5lb trigger on his gen 3 23 and loved it. He had no issue with accuracy because he practiced regularly. It was also his carry gun.

For certain people sure. It's more of a if it ain't broke don't fix it thing. I'd rather not compromise the integrity of a good factory gun unless I was using it for competition or something. Personal preference I guess

That doesn't make sense to me either, but that's all right :-) I feel it comes down to what ever works best for the shooter, as it's their life that's being defended. So if a 3.5# trigger instead of a 5# is what the shooter can put more accurate groups with, that is what they should have. Seems like the responsible common sense thing to do ;-)

I have a 17, 19, and 26...have polished the appropriate elements of all to smooth out trigger action. Also put a 3.5# connector in the 17. The native trigger press on Glocks has never bothered me so I have seen no reason to tinker with it - but on talking with a friend, decided to give the lighter connector a try on the 17. I have found, on occasion, that the lighter press has lead to a premature follow-up shot when I have not been practicing with it as I tend to practice more with the other two since they are my carry guns.

Definitely a "To each his own" thing.

I'm told it's not a difficult to undo, so maybe I'll just have to try it out and see. thanks for the input guys!

If your ever in a self defense situation and have to use your trigger altered weapon, be prepared to defend "negligent" discharge in court. Hair triggers are often targeted in the court of law by plaintiff attorneys in civil cases, especially if they were "home" jobs.

Uses that's what I was going for legal aspect and chance of do it our self going wrong and not working right.
If you wanna tune it go ahead :)

Trout, are you sure it's often used in the courts? Cause I've never heard of a case bringing up tuned triggers. Do you have any references to back up your claim that it happens often, or ever?

I have the "ghost trigger" as they call it in my 23 and along with a polish job I love the trigger. I don't have a problem with it as a carry gun. It doesn't actually get you 3.5 more like 4-4.2 in my 23 but it's definitely a noticeable difference. I've shot better with it. I think the reason I'm more accurate with it is because the way it lightens the trigger is by reducing the angle on the connector so there's less resistance. It also consequently reduces the jerkiness in the over-travel so my follow through is better. I don't why you'd need a gunsmith to do it. As long as you know how to detail strip a glock it's just a drop in replacement...no modification to parts needed unless you want to do a polish job on the contact points like I did.

I've never seen any specific cases but I've heard that a lot too. A lot of my local gunsmiths refuse to do trigger jobs on carry guns out of a fear of liability.

Massad Ayoob discusses "hair trigger" heavily, mainly in the realm of DAO vs SAO. The People vs. Magliato is a case I can recall. I have not had time to pull that case and probably won't instead taking Ayoob's advice because it makes a lot of sense to me.

Alot of good info here. I personally, installed a Ghost 3.5 disconnector, 4lb trigger spring and a 6lb firing pin spring. It brought it down to about 4.5lb pull. I took it apart again and polished the hell out of the disconnector and the trigger bar and the part of the firing pin that meets the trigger bar and that brought it down to 4 lbs. I would not go any less than that if it is a EDC weapon. Also installed a adjustable trigger housing to eliminate over travel for fast resets. Must be extremely careful adjusting pre travel as this will affect the firing pin block.

I have the 3.5lb trigger in my gen3 19 and love it. I also shoot IDPA and it has improved my groupings. But it is like anything else you have to practice, practice, practice. And then practice some more.

If you do pull that case, you will find it VERY different from Ayoob's version.
