Glock perfection? Seeking knowledge on a Glock 27 "problem"

Question for you knowledgeable semi-auto guys. I just bought a new, off the shelf Glock 27. When I rack the slide with purpose, it goes in to full battery. If I rack the slide and release it gently it hangs up or sticks right before full battery. From there with a slight nudge it will go in to full battery. Is this normal? I have owned 6 or 7 semi autos in various brands and have never had this happen on any of them. I took the gun back to the store and talked to the "guy behind the counter" who said the gun is fine and that is normal, it will smooth itself out. But here I am asking for a second opinion. I have not yet shot or even loaded the chamber or magazine because if it is problem I still have time to return the gun for refund. Thanks.

That's curious...My Glock 27 (Gen3) has never ever given me any such problems.
Take it to the range and put 100 rds through it...It should be just fine imvho.

Never had that issue with my 26. Like was said before, get a couple hundred rounds through it and see if it frees up. Mine was stiff at first as well.

It's a tool. Rack it like you mean it. Like outlaw said, shoot 100+ and you should be good.

The issue here is the recoil spring. If this is a Gen 4, it will have the double buffered recoil spring. If it hasn't been shot at all, then that spring is going to need some loosening up which is done best by shooting it. No matter the generation or form factor the Glock is NEVER designed to be eased into battery. Those springs are designed to work at very high pressures at high speeds & babying them will only decrease the productivity of the process. Gen 3 & 4 springs will both do this at the beginning of their life, as well as at the end of their life. (Make sure you change your recoil spring every 4,000 rounds)
Best of luck!

Check your Slide Stop Lever. If its not seated properly, e.g., the spring is caught above the Locking Block Pin could cause it to lock the slide back after each shot.

A potential fix is to take a brass or plastic punch and manipulate the Trigger Pin while wiggling the Slide Stop Lever to get it seated properly. Make sure the spring of the Slide Stop Lever is seated properly below the Locking Block, if not you'll need to disassemble it. Here is a link to a set of instruction to (dis)assemble the Glock.

I have a Glock 27 and cannot even begin to count the rounds through it. Strip and clean the weapon to begin with and lubricate it with a high quality lubricant(EWL). Take the weapon and fire it at a range with a high quality ammunition, I would attempt to shoot approx 200 rounds through it. Clean and lubricate the weapon after use, I am betting it will be fine. Contrary to another post here Glock handguns are some the finest made. The are issued by numerous Federal and local law enforcement agencies. If the gun has an issue after firing call Glock and explain it, I guarantee they will do whatever is needed to fix the weapon and make you happy. I have had teammates that have dealt with Glock in the past and they have all been thoroughly satisfied and happy with their efforts. I am extremely confident that your weapon will be fine and will provide you with the protection and reliability you expect.

Do what outlaw said. Take it to the range and put 100 rds through it. I have several Glocks and you can easily release the slide and it goes into battery. I can't remember if I tried that when mine were new but it is not the case now. I think most people will agree that a new "unfired" hand gun requires a break in to smooth out the rough edges. Congratulations on your Glock. I think as time goes by you will find out it is an excellent weapon. It will eat just about any ammo you can fit in the magazine. My 27 travels with me everywhere.

My 27G4 doesn't have this issue.

I'd have an armorer take a look (because I'm no expert...) and get it taken care of.
