Glock magazine, fully loaded or half loaded

ok this question is for glock users or i guess anyone else, i carry all glocks so im directing it towards glock users-

I have 3 extra mags for each one of my 3 guns- should i keep these mags fully loaded or keep 7 in the clip- (im referencing keeping the spring nice) or is it fine to keep a full clip all the time- im not talking about my gun that is in my holster that one always stays fully loaded. im talking about the extra clips, let me know what you think

I keep my glock mags FULLY loaded at all times! The mag springs on glocks are super tight and breaks my thumbs squeezing in those last rounds.

so you dont think that this will have any negative affect on the spring over the long term?? just curious - maybe ill just keep 2 mags fully loaded at night and the other half loaded and swap the order of which ones stays loaded every night-

I try to train frequently enough so that this isn't a problem; all mags are being routinely cycled.

Try it out, leave it in there for a week or two. Also, the mag spring on my 1911 is much looser than my glock, no feed problems and I have been keeping my glocks fully loaded for about 2 years.

Do you think police officers constantly remove ammo out of their mags everynight??

Mag springs are designed to be compressed. Cycling and reloading wears on the spring more then leaving them fully loaded. I have several AR, 1911, and double stack mags that spend more time fully loaded then they do unloaded. I’ve never had an issue with them. I have three mags I rotate for carry. One in the gun, one spare, and one left at home unloaded. I normally go 6 months or so before I rotate. I've done this for the past 5 years and never had an issue at the range with them.

I have heard some talk about the feed lips on the AR mags being damages when left fully loaded over extended time but have not seen that personally.

I also have 3 Glocks all with extra mags, I keep the fully loaded except for the last rd, if it holds 13 rds I load it with 12, 10 rds i load it with 9 and so on, I may or may not need to do this, but I know of a freind that has had a couple of G-17 mags that were loaded for 4 or 5 years he misplaced them in the trunk of his car, they fell off to the side where you never look, and he found them one day, they were nasty looking, he hosed them off blew them off with the air compressor, still loaded, he popped them in racked the slide, and emptyed both mags like they were just then loaded, thats just one reason even with all the tradeing and swapping with guns I will always have Glocks they are definatly not eye candy to look at, but they do go boom every time
