Glock 43….

Howdy,

Interesting.

Eventhough I'm a Glocker and my EDC is a G23 I'll pass.

I just do not get the pocket pistol thingy.

Back in the "Day" when very few states had any type of CCW permit a lot of people would carry a pocket pistol, usually a stub nose .32 or .38, or a little .25 or .32 auto but nowadays with a CCW permit I do not see why a person would carry a sub compact size handgun.

I do own a Kel-Tec PF-9mm which is about the smallest 9mm on the market but I only carry it a couple of times a year when I cannot carry anything bigger.

Just my $.02 and your mileage may vary.

Note that the G43 seems to be quite versatile. I know a number of G19 4-o'clock carriers that also carry the S&W Shield 9 (no thumb safety) appendix. The G43 with a +1 pinky extension could replace the S&W Shield 9. It may also be an ankle-carry option. I will wait for actual independent reviews until I decide.

For a spec comparison, take a look at Link Removed. Also, Glock has now the G43 in their lineup.

I have a G42. I think I have the Ammo issues straightened out. Its a nice little firearm, BUT I really don't think it's for me. I am not a big fan of .380ACP. I also already have a Ruger LCP and that is really a great reliable pocket carry. The LCP is a little beast and i don't take it to the range very often. But i do carry it on occasion. The width of the G42 has my trigger finger usually going too far on the rigger and i tend to pull shots left. The G43 is .08 wider maybe my finger would hit the trigger right on that one. The G26 and he G19 I have a real good grip and trigger. I hope Glock does well with the G42 The Shield and SA XDS models have been out there awhile and Ruger LC9S (and pro model). Right now i really don't need a 6 shot carry.

Based on the spec sheet in post #1, the G43 has a trigger distance of 2.56 in. 9mm double-stack Gen 4 Glocks without a back strap have a trigger distance of 2.76 in and 2.83 in with the medium back strap. In comparison, the G42 has a trigger distance of 2.40 in.

My wife and I both have the G42. Loaded with SIG 100 gr FMJ flatpoints, two in the chest and one in the head and the BG won't know the difference between a 9mm or 380.

First bold part: Only at the range with a stationary target, otherwise all bets are off. The Mozambique drill has its applications, but is certainly not universal, especially not in civilian self defense.

Second bold part: I certainly know the difference and choose not to ignore it.

Do you know of any tests of 100 gr FMJ-FN out of a 3.25 in barrel? From what I understand, the round will not tumble as it is too fast.

First bold part..as for the range, drills, civilian defense... speaking for yourself. Second bold part...BG certainly wouldn't know the difference. From what I've read the SIG round is not too fast.

Everybody is certainly entitled to their own opinion. I have yet to see a civilian self defense case where someone actually successfully employed the Mozambique drill.

Yes, he certainly would notice the difference of a round that has twice the amount of energy and momentum.

From what I've read the SIG round is not too fast.

Any source for that? What's the parts number for the Sig .380 100 gr FMJ-FN? I can only find E380B1, which is round nose.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No, he wouldn't notice the difference, he'd most likely be dead. My source is my box of 50 Round SIG SAUER ELITE PERFORMANCE AMMUNITION part number E380B1 100 gr FMJ - and they are flat nose.

Meh. Springfield Armory XD-S in 9 or 45.

Meh. S&W Shield 9mm with no thumb safety. I just can't live with that grip safety of the XDS.

As for that 6-round capacity issue of the Glock 43, the MagGuts follower solution adds 1 round without extending the magazine for the Glock 42. I imagine that this will be available for the Glock 43 at some point as well. The same solution, changes a 7-round S&W Shield magazine to 8 rounds (or its 8-round magazine to 9) though.

I see Gunbroker has the Glock 43 for a reasonable price of 609.00 go fiqure. So everyone will be trying to get as much as them can get for them. But it looks like it will be a good weapon and take a lot of sales from the MP shield.
