Glock 23 or Glock 27

I am looking to get at .40 caliber Glock for concealed carry but I don't know if I should get the Glock 23 or the Glock 27.

Glock 23 is better than 27 unless otherwise your hand is too small. I am a very petite woman and I find that G27 is just way too small for my hands hence I have the 23 instead. Just my point.

Nobody can make that decision for you. Buying a pistol for carry is very personal. You need to decide which one feels better in your hand, is better for your style of carry, etc. etc.

I almost went with the 27, then got some good counsel from a friend who is a firearms trainer. He helped me consider the longer barrel, better "purchase" / grip you can get on the 23 as you draw, and even the split-second you gain with your sight acquisition with the 1/2" longer barrel.

I agree with B2Tall, that this decision ultimately needs to make sense to you, as you will be the one carrying this pistol. For my mileage, I decided that if I had to own one pistol (which I do) then it would be the 23. A guy I work with carries his daily, and another is about to purchase one. I have been carrying it day in and day out for a year now, and have not regretted the decision.

Just GOTTA shoot 'em!!

I agree wholeheartedly... There is absolutely NO substitute for going to a range where they rent a good selection of firearms, and running a few hundred rounds through your choices. You can try them on your side, and the fine people behind the counter can advise you on carry options. NOT a decision to be made hastily esp. if money is a big consideration. I've had many handguns over time, and when you can afford it, is a fun option... but finally boiled my choice down to a G36 w/ an extra extended clip for everyday carry. Most EVERYBODY'S choices will differ for many different reasons.

Two very good choices, but unless you just have to have that little bit of extra small for concealment with the 27, I would definatly go with the 23, to get a good grip with a 27,you would almost have to put on the mag extentions, if thats the case you may as well have the 23, also noticably less felt recoil with the 23, the 27 is also a good shooter, accuracy difference is neglegable but the 27 does have a rather stout recoil and muzzle flip make it a bit slower to get back on target, my wife and I have had both and kept the 23, she did not do well with the 27 her small hands just could not get a good grip on the 27

I sometimes carry a Glock 22 and find the sharpness of the muzzle flip difficult to control. That caused me to buy a Glock 19 instead of a 23, although if I were to do it again, I'd buy the 23 and an extra 9x19mm barrel. I imagine that the recoil of the 27 must be something to experience. You might be better off with a small .45.

I don't like any Glock smaller than the 19/23 size, ESPECIALLY in any caliber above 9x19mm.

Exactly, given the choices a G-36 or G-30, both 45s, is much more easyer to shoot than a 27, but I also have a 23 and had a 22, which were really not bad to shoot, now if you wanted a Glock the seems to have the recoil of a hot 22, try a G-17c, a 9mm with a compensated barrel, super soft to shoot, and possably the most accurate Glock I have shot

If it's gonna mostly be a carry gun, go with the 27 all day! If your gonna be at the range all the time you consider the 23 but I'd go with comfort ad concealability. You can also buy a G23 mag and an extention sleeve to shoot the 27 with a full grip at the range. I do it with my 26 when it goes to the range.

This is exactly what my better half does with her 26,
