Glock 19 Gen 4: non perfection. Now PERFECTION
Update: Added a youtube vid today
Well guys, Today i purchased a Glock 19 Gen 4. Even after reading about all the problems with the recoil springs and ejections issues, I bought it anyway.
Mine came with the latest spring that is stamped 0 4 3. Supposedly this is the latest spring that was supposed to fix all the issues.
Bull crap I say.
Let me say im no stranger to Glocks. I bought my first Glock 27 .40 when i turned 21. That was 7 years ago. I have put well over 4000 rounds through it and have never, and MEAN NEVER, had one single failure from the very first round. I trust my life on it. I have shot plenty of Glock 19 gen 3s and never had any issue with any of the 115 gr typical range ammo. NONE never.
So after reading the review that the new springs currently being shipped fixed the problems i went ahead and purchased the gun this morning.
I brought it home took it out of the box and went out to shoot. I started with a 100 round box of Winchester white box 115 grain fmj. First shot, the case ejected and hit me right in the middle of the forhead. Continued with the rest of the magazine, 3 FTEs right off the bat in the first 15 rounds. Out of the entire 100 rounds i had over 15 FTE's. Of all the rounds that did eject, it was pitiful. Some even ejected forward out in front of me, some barely ejected, some ejected normal.
So after that, i took the gun inside and stripped all the new copper lube that was on the gun and put real oil on.
Went back out, shot my second 100 rounds of the same 115gr white box fmj. I had a few less FTE's, but still over 10.
Next i shot 50 rounds of 147 gr Winchester white box JHP's. Out of those 50 rounds they seemed to eject better and i only had 1 FTE from the entire 50 rounds. However, the ejection was nothing near as strong as my Glock 27 .40.
So all in all I went though 250 rounds today, the results are pitiful for Glock. What should I do. The shop I purchased it from has a G19 Gen 3 on the shelf right now. Im thinking i should at least fire 500 rounds to see if the spring lightens up enough to resolve the issues.
