It amuses me that any time things aren't going well and have the potential to get worse, someone comes up with some crazy conspiracy theory or theorizes that the government will go to extraordinarily unreasonable lengths that endanger people's rights. For the record,I don't believe for a second that this is going to happen.

I hope it doesn't, but just for the record just because you believe it can't happen does not mean it will not. There have been a lot of things that have taken place that a lot of people thought would never happen that did. Many do not think the things that are prophesied in scripture will happen either and that is their prerogative but that does not mean they will not take place either. I myself believe the accidental view of history is crazy but then again that is my prerogative.

Hay tat train for the worst and hope for the best. Just the fact that it can is enough to prepare for. Did you ever think bush would turn into a socialist? If nobama wins and the blacks riot enough he might postpone the swearing in for ever. That is if we can have a fair election.:neo:

Really?!

National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive
this gives the president the authority to declare martial law pretty much for whatever reason he/she deems. pay particular attention to line 22 which revokes constitutional goverment and it's functions. just because YOU don not think it can / will happen doesn't mean it can't or won't. nobody believed europe would be united either. but there is the maastricht treaty and now you have a united europe. yeah, economic union. political union is next and the hq for the EU goverment is in belgium. indeed, it is a BRAVE NEW WORLD. AND IT SUCKS BIG TIME. better be prepared to fight for your right to own firearms. and to be FREE.

Look up REX 1984

There is already a plan in place called REX1984. It will ensure that martial law will work flawlessly on the sheeple and allow them to divide and conquer those that resist. If you don't believe me look it up. Only one Senator spoke out against this and he was quickly shut up in the interests of national security.:stop:

I forgot about that!!!

THANKS FESTUS!! YA KNOW HOW GAS CHAMBERS MAKE ME FEEL ALL WARM AND FUZZY.....

Living in Memphis, that scenario is a very real possibility for me.....I will own an AR between now and the election.

Tat,
Adolph Hitler was elected on a "Change" ticket after/during an economic crisis
Fidel Castro was elected on a "Change"ticket involving a perceived economic crisis
Why do you think this couldn't happen here?

Rex 84

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(January 2007) Rex 84, short for Readiness Exercise 1984, is a plan by the United States federal government to test their ability to detain large numbers of American citizens in case of civil unrest or national emergency.

Description

Exercises similar to Rex 84 happen periodically.[1] Plans for roundups of persons in the United States in times of crisis are constructed during periods of increased political repression such as the Palmer Raids and the McCarthy Era. For example, from 1967 to 1971 the FBI kept a list of persons to be rounded up as subversive, dubbed the "ADEX" list.[2]
According to scholar Diana Reynolds:
The Rex-84 Alpha Explan (Readiness Exercise 1984, Exercise Plan; otherwise known as a continuity of government plan), indicates that FEMA in association with 34 other federal civil departments and agencies conducted a civil readiness exercise during April 5-13, 1984. It was conducted in coordination and simultaneously with a Joint Chiefs exercise, Night Train 84, a worldwide military command post exercise (including Continental U.S. Forces or CONUS) based on multi-emergency scenarios operating both abroad and at home. In the combined exercise, Rex-84 Bravo, FEMA and DOD led the other federal agencies and departments, including the Central Intelligence Agency, the Secret Service, the Treasury, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Veterans Administration through a gaming exercise to test military assistance in civil defense. JOAN OF ARC. The exercise anticipated civil disturbances, major demonstrations and strikes that would affect continuity of government and/or resource mobilization. To fight subversive activities, there was authorization for the military to implement government ordered movements of civilian populations at state and regional levels, the arrest of certain unidentified segments of the population, and the imposition of martial rule. [3] Existence of a master military contingency plan, "Garden Plot" and a similar earlier exercise, "Lantern Spike" were originally revealed by journalist Ron Ridenhour, who summarized his findings in "Garden Plot and the New Action Army."[4]
Rex 84 was mentioned during the Iran-Contra Hearings in 1987, and subsequently reported on by the Miami Herald on July 5, 1987. [5]A number of websites and alternative publications that span the political spectrum have hypothesized upon the basic material about Rex 84, and in many cases hyperbolized it into a form of urban legend or conspiracy theory. Rex 84 is sometimes cited as an extension of the fictional King Alfred Plan, a strategy to detain African Americans. Nonetheless, the basic facts about Rex 84 and other contingency planning readiness exercises--and the potential threat they pose to civil liberties if fully implemented in a real operation--are taken seriously by scholars and civil liberties activists.[6]
In 2008, for the first time an active military unit has been given a dedicated assignment stateside for civil unrest containment. It is assigned to Northcom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.[7]

Critical of conspiracist interpretations

I see that paranoia really does run rampant here.

Not correct tat...... Webster says "delusions", "excessive. or irrational" ....

The attitudes and actions of Hussein, and the liberals regarding the 2nd Amendment, are NOT delusions, and those attitudes and actions do NOT make our concerns excessive or irrational. That attitude is exactly what Hussein is looking for in his prospective herd, just another sheep.

Why do you think this couldn't happen here?

Because it's hyperbole, that's why.

Again your opinion and not shared by others and not backed up by facts. Many of us are parinoid according to you. Some have their head in the sand. Of the two choices I would rather er on the side of the first.

Glad I'm neither paranoid nor have my head in the sand. I just refuse to let hyperbole dictate my actions.

Hyperbole has no basis in fact. It's used to create emphasis. I doubt you're old enough to have experience dictate all of your actions. Most of your actions, and many of your comments here are dictated by hyperbole, NOT fact, or experience.
