I live in Lakewood / Cleveland area . I was walking to the store with my daughter a minute ago . There was a older black male in sunglasses that approached me and told me to shake his hand because I look like someone he knows . I told him to get the eff away from me . He told his buddies something then started walking closer . I put my hand on my gun and told him I have a gun in my pocket leave me alone . ? Is that legal ? It made him leave me alone real quick . It just seemed odd .

I don't know about Ohio, but in VA I think it would be legal as long as the gun didn't actually come out. I think if he'd kept coming at you after you informed him you had a gun it would have been legal to draw, since you could be reasonably certain he meant to cause you physical harm at that point.

Didn't pull it out wouldn't do that , unless I had to just had my four year old daughter with me he apologized in the store made me feel better , I informed him I don't want any trouble just don't like people coming up to me I don't know after I tell them to leave me alone

I wouldnt tell anyone about your gun because it is threatening them.

Only thing I would do is walk away. If he follows you and makes an aggressive move towards you or your daughter, let him find out and feel for himself that you have a gun

There's a little more to it than just getting a permit and finding the right gun/holster. Sounds like you should get familiar with the laws of your state. This isn't a jab at you, but if you have to ask if it was legal after the fact you probably need to read a little more. Glad all turned out well though. I would have never spoken a word to him if I wasn't comfortable and cautiously moved in the opposite direction. If the threat followed then the serious decisions would have to have been made in miliseconds.

Can you articulate clearly, exactly what this guy did that made you feel that you were in immediate danger of losing your life or being seriously injured? Yeah I didn’t think so.

In Colorado they would have busted your ass for felony aggravated menacing or the guy would have pulled out his own gun and shot your ass.

If you want my honest opinion you’re an idiot who shouldn’t be in the same room w/ a firearm unless you are under close adult supervision.

Treo the guy states a dumb ? Yeah it's dumb I guess what I did . But the fact that he said the stuff to people I knew who I asked later and they said they didn't know him . And after I say leave me the f alone and you come closer and closer before I said I have a gun . Brandishing is pulling y weapon out . I never pulled it just warned him he couldnt have been up to any good he didn't call the cops or anything so I'm assuming he had bad intentions . He might not have at the same time . Putting your hand in your pocket and warning someone (who is not threatening you with fear of great bodily harm) in a threatening tone of voice that you have a gun is felonious assault where I come from. Be very, very glad he didn't call LE and pursue the issue.

You need to learn that not every possible threat requires the use of a gun if you want to keep your license and stay out of jail.

Maybe you spoke a little soon. Be sure it's a threat before you get into trouble. But there is that line when your kind of scared but you have to feel a life threatening danger. You can't pull your gun and use it unless you feel your life is in danger or your in danger of serious bodily harm. That Gun isn't for if someone scares you or if someone socks you in the head. Ppl still have to be men and woman. If you gotta take a ass beaten. Then take it. Don't take a life unless a life is about to be taken or serious serious serious injury could occur. If he would have had a rock,knife, bat etc. etc. that's when you resort to your weapon. If he is approaching u ya can't justify a shooting. If he hits you ya can't justify a shooting. I totally understand fear but if u carry a gun you absolutely must over come fear and keep a clear head.

There was an ex (key word there) cop in the Springs that got arrested for patting the outside of his suit jacket over his gun.

He was like 5-7 feet away when I said it though . I honestly felt like he was going to try something a normal person would have avoided me when I got loud in the first place with get away from me .
