Girl remains in critical condition after being accidentally shot by father

Rule #1 & Rule #3

This guy obviously wasn't following either of these rules. He SHOULD be charged with a negligence misdemeanor to learn a lesson. Hopefully he won't require further education.

25th Anniversary Of Chernobyl Disaster Remembered: Gothamist

Bad things happen to good people... Mistakes are made all the time... There is no way to take the edges off the world and pad all the corners... Living in sterile bubbles... No thanks...

I'm sure he will pay for this by reliving that moment over and over again... What shall we do? Require IQ testing in addition to background checks? Will that prevent another mistake from being made? Dream another liberal dream...

Excuse me? I'm in no way a liberal. I am a life long Republican. I think people should be held responsible for their actions, no exceptions. I know that mistakes happen and the is why I said MISDEMEANOR. It won't affect his ability to own firearms or vote. It may however get his attention and prevent another incident.

I suppose you think he shouldn't be held responsible? You may want to look up what liberals have been pushing for the last 40 years.

Where in my post did I state he should take no responsibility for this mistake?
You may want to go back and re-read that again... He is most certainly responsible as are all gun owners, for any mistakes made. Having a child injured or killed by ones own negligence, is punishment I can't imagine having to suffer...

Definition of PUNISHMENT;
1: the act of punishing
2; a : suffering, pain, or loss that serves as retribution b : a penalty inflicted on an offender through judicial procedure
3: severe, rough, or disastrous treatment...

As far as what the liberals have been pushing, I wish to see no more of it... Restrict! Regulate! Ban!... The mating cry of the liberal loon...

That looks to me like you're saying he will be punished enough by living with what he did.

Speaking of re-reading, for something to serve as retribution it must be inflicted upon the perpetrator by somebody else after the initial action. Self knowledge of a misdeed isn't punishment by your own definition.

That reads to me like an assumption on your part not an inferred meaning on mine...

Go and read "The Tell Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe... Many a man has gone to the deepest part of despair, insanity, and self loathing for a mistake that took the life or possible future of a loved one... I'm sure he will be punished by those that administer justice... Which do you believe will cause more suffering and pain?

Not splitting hairs here. A very sad tale, yes there will be others. 'Gun owners 101' will keep any firearms owner out of trouble as long as you abide by it.
