Get your daughters into martial arts!

It's been 3 weeks since the "consultation" and almost a month since my 4 year old daughter was sexually assaulted on the school bus and the day is finally here....she gets to go to her first Kyu Ki Do class today!

When I started TaeKwon Do in 1996, there was no consultation. Master Ju saw me watching in the window, saw my form and offered me a correction. A week or so later, he invited me in. My foster parents had no idea where I had been and it was a huge surprise when I came home in a uniform with a white belt AND a job.

Hopefully, you've all considered getting your daughters some training of some sort. They can't tell us everything they have to endure, and they will, as women, be subjected to sexual harassment, abuse, assault and possibly rape. My other daughter will be 3 in February. She will start shortly after her birthday. I had an opportunity, and they will too.

Even if you can't afford the tuition, there are free trial periods offered at some places. The place I've chosen offers 14 classes and the uniform for free. ( I had to sweep and mop every weekday for 2 weeks to pay off my uniform.). Best part is, I can help a little because Kyu Ki Do is a hybrid which involves TaeKwon Do and Judo, and I have taken both.

Quit waiting for the schools to do something! Get off your ass and help your kid get a future!

I had Daughter #1 in the YMCA Shotokan karate class for almost a year when she was 5. When it was time to "move up" to the next level...and she saw all the "big people" in that class she was done.

I have 7 years of Aikido under my "black belt" and will routinely show both daughters different techniques and they enjoy that.

Haha I saw the same thing! I didn't know how many adults took lessons, scared the crap outta me.

I'm trying to decipher their belt tying instructions...TaeKwon Do is the lazy belt tying martial art I guess lol

I will just send her in on Monday with the belt tied the only way I know how and see what happens.
