Jeez, heard so many stories about the rush on anything to do with firearms after the CN shooting...if any plot most likely the firearms industry to spur sales....

Anyhow. Tired of enduring WalMart for ammo...driving there...getting help...so called Cabella's. Sometimes order in quantity from them. No luck today. All brands of their 9mm are sold out (even the aluminum cased ones) and they "estimate" they'll have more in late January...right...ya think??

When Cabella's is sold out of 9mm range ammo that's something!

I'm sure i'm not the only one who would be interested in the amount of gun and ammo sales after the Newtown shootings, the amount has to be astronomical to wipe out the shelves accross the country. .32 ACP - 40SW is non existant for the most part in my area. I did find one box of .40 at Walmart yesterday which I bought. My local gun shop has some 9mm, maybe 12 boxes but its not the normal target loads and a little more expensive. I've got a nice little stash of ammo I have been working on for a year so not real concerned but, I am going to limit my range visits and the ammo I shoot to what I can get in the stores without hitting my stash until I see more ammo on the shelves.

I live near cabelas and they had plenty of 9mm left but zero .223. All the 30 round mags are 9 months backordered or taking offline. They raised all their prices $1-2 a box and did the same thing earlier in 2012. I can't justify $15.99 plus tax for 9mm. Thank goodness for gun shows found the same stuff $10 cash.

All the major online places are out of all major high capacity mags rifle or pistol and majority of AR parts. Gun broker is gouging people $45 a mag and $350 a lower. It's just crazy.

If we can push the ban off a few months it won't likely win. If it does it will be a compromise of the bill that ois completely insane by trying to make assault weapons into NFA weapons with stamps and finger prints. I pray the bill or the old bill doesn't pass and if it does u won't be able to get anything for under a 50-100+% mark up until it passes

We went shopping yesterday at the local Big R. They only had 12ga shells and some 44-mag and very little 45-cal in the cases. Prices have not changed. I thought about going across the street to the other big box store, but I will assume that everyone else has already done the same. Guess I will try the Cabela's on the way home tomorrow and or the LGS. One thing for sure is when you see something on the shelf, we will be sure to grab it, as long as the price has skyrocketed!

Beautiful timing. Just sold my wife's RIA 1911 last week and picked up a Ruger SR9 in it's place. Now can't find any ammo for it at a reasonable price. The only 9mm non-self-defense ammo on the shelves at the local walmart - $35. Any sane person would assume that would HAVE to be a box of 100 right, and substantially overpriced at that, right? Nope, just a box of 50, Remington 115 grain FMJ IIRC. Naturally, the counter person said they haven't sold a single box of it.

I was also looking for a box of 500 rds of .22 for plinking with the kids. The kind I normally pick up at walmart for $20. Nothing. Worse off, Can't even find similar online....anywhere. Sure, I could pay at least double or triple and then pay hazmat.

Can't find any place online now that has stock of the CCI primers I normally use (small/large pistol), and the zero brand JHP bullets I normally load. As usual, the high priced stuff is still available, and I could find large primers at one place and small at another. Just frustrated at the current situation.

Planning to wait for the fear to pass and the supplies to restock. Then I'll try to restock as I can afford.

If people did not get the message when Obama was again elected, and start stocking up on everything they wanted in firearms Mags. also Ammo. They sure were not being very wise. I have seen the parking lots at firearm stores jammed full, so I have just stayed away from therm.

Been in the same boat guys, until today, and I ordered a lot. I found this source on another site, prices were reasonable and in stock.

Just to clarify - it was Cabella's WAREHOUSE that said they were out of all 9mm - the place you call to order out of their catalog if you live five hours from their nearest retail outlet.

And...if I was a horder I'd have bought all of the last six boxes of 9mm my local WalMart had - instead of just 3 boxes in case someone else needed some too.

Just seems so weird to hear my LGS talking about not being able to get anything from the distributors - my LGS not being able to find a $1,000 pistol I finally decided to buy...not being able to order ANY 9mm from Cabela's warehouse...

I ain't "prophasizing" about a shortage - I'm hearing about and finding a shortage and askin' if its that way for others too.

Why am I bothering to defend myself against an unwarranted attack? Lets just call it clarifying the issue.

Never seen a forum on any subject that had so many snipers gunning to "Shoot the messenger" as this one does....

Your local gun shop is correct. Even the .22LR is out of stock at three of our main distributors. No 9mm Remington green and white box. Or any other brand even in 9. Found only 8 boxes of Speer Gold Dot in .45ACP. But I'm sitting on around a 1000 rounds of 9 and .45ACP and a couple thousand rounds of 5.56.

You have to be some kind of conspiracy theory nutcase to eat this stuff up like they do around here. There's going to be ebbs and flows of supply and demand for all sorts of stuff all the time. This place is just hung up on guns, ammo and their OBAMA effect. Or whatever the next over-hyped media episode that could possibly affect gun sales, bans or ammo availability. Open your eyes! The gun business is going gangbusters! They are raking it in! More guns and ammo have been sold to private American consumers in the past 4 years than any comparable previous period in recorded history. I'm not even going to mention the megabucks defense contractors are raking in from international weapons sales of ALL kinds. Do you really believe there is some conspiracy to slow or stop that?

Raking it in? Not the FFLs when it comes to ammo. Not unless they had a million rounds in stock before the run began. Yes it is supply and demand, but the supply is lagging behind demand. A local shop that normally had cases of .223/5.56 is down to about 250 rounds and is waiting for ammo ordered back at the beginning of last month. Another shop has none at all. Wally World is sporadic and has raised the prices from $7.50/20 to $12/20 in the past year.

Price what .40S&W ammo goes for now days. Federal Champion .40 S&W is listed as discontinued by Midway. I bought a case recently for $319/1000 and posted prices before shipping run in the $18 to $25 per box of 50 from online sellers. Even reman ammo in .40 S&W has gone to the prices that new cost only months ago. Other ammo is similar in price changes.

it will pass as soon as the procrastinators get their stash. i always keep a good stash of every cal. i have. i dont need any more guns and i dont shoot bullet eaters.
got my cc permit a year ago. I HATE LINES AND SHORTAGES.
