The problem is not the people in the store, but the clueless folks at corporate for Gander. About a year ago they took about 70% of the smiths out of the store so no ability to get anything fixed locally but only through their few that are left - I had spent two years building a trusting relationship with the smith at Gander, bought about a dozen gun their to have that support and bam - overnight it was gone. As many have said their prices for both guns and ammo is higher than most others. I traded in a hardly used gun one time as it was the path of least resistance - took a big loss on the gun even using it for a trade on another gun they had that I wanted. Some of their use stuff is better but still more than most places. My advice is sell it privately - it is easier than you think, find a FFL that will work with you and get your new blaster on the internet at one of the more affordable places. I have done that many times and it works pretty well. This could mean the difference of $100 or more on the average gun.If you want to "fondle" ahead of time, then go to Gander or find a gun show and see how it feels. If you want to fire, go to a range with the round of choice and many will let you using your own ammo try at least a magazine of the gun of your dreams. Have done what with my XD crew several times. Above all, have fun and good luck in your journey.
