My wife has always liked shooting a rifle but hated pistols, she didn't like the idea of me buying pistols and getting my CCP. Over the past several years she seemed to be coming around. There have been two instances that have made her nervous while we were together and she asked if I was carrying or not. She has gotten used to the idea that I had something on my belt or in my pocket. Six months or so ago she said she wanted to get her CCP but couldn't decide on what she wanted for a gun. I took her to Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shop and my LGS to try look and feel many, many different pistols. Three weeks ago she decided on a Sig P238 which I ordered since she wanted it to match my 938 Equinox. We worked with snap caps so she could practice racking the slide and such.
Today....range day with her Sig 238. She had a ball. And killed the target if I might add with 4 to 5" groups. We ran out of ammo and she wanted more. I was extremely happy and not really surprised that she enjoyed it. I was impressed with the accuracy that she had for shooting the gun for the first time and kind of nervous on the other hand because she did so well. No...she won't be doing any competition any time soon but if a bad guy comes in to our house uninvited there will now be two to stop the threat. Bad Day for the Bad Guy.
Not sure what changed her mind and I don't care, I want her safe and able to take care of herself if I am not around and today...holy crap.
She wants to go back to the range next week and has instructed me to get more ammo. My reply was "Yes dear" I'll get some for myself while I am there as well.
