Have you tried Lake Louisa State Park?Link Removed My wife and I stayed there on our honeymoon and the facility wasn't full.

It could be worse. In Arizona the parks are full of rattlesnakes, gila monsters, and javelina. Plus most of the locals are packing iron all the time!
