From Stars and Stripes, 10/18/2012. The administration has now classified the Ft. Hood shooting as an act of "workplace violence", not a terrorist attack.

With this classification, "...the victims do not get combat-related special compensation that provides disability pay for medically retired service members." This also affects their ability to obtain physical therapy, and medical and psychological treatment relating to the attack, and prevents them from receiving the Purple Heart.

To call this a travesty is an understatement of gargantuan proportions. Our service members deserve this support regardless of whether the enemy is foreign or domestic. Take a moment to contact your legislators in DC and let them know what YOU think about this.

And then pass this along. If this doesn't make your blood boil, I don't know what else will.

"The Department of Defense is committed to the integrity of the ongoing court martial proceedings of (Hasan) and for that reason will not at this time further characterize the incident that occurred at Fort Hood on Nov. 5, 2009," Pentagon spokesman George Little said. "Major Hassan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder. As with all pending (court martial) matters, the accused is innocent until proven guilty."

On Fox News today, there was an explanation of why it is currently being termed 'workplace violence' as these initial court proceedings play through. The legal terminology may in fact change in the future, but those injured will get full medical benefits at this time. I'm in no way defending any actions by the Obama admin but these legal terms that are being used is being used by the Pentagon/DOD, not the admin. But this initial court martial has to play through before changing the classification....

And in every case of workplace violence the attacker shouts "Allahu Akbar" while shooting people. Of course this is only after watching a BS video insulting Islam. Nope, nothing to see here.

Damn right it was a terrorist attack.

Regardless of whether a court martial is pending, there was no wait to classify the attack on the USS Cole, or the marine barracks in Beirut, or the 1993 Hasan Akbar grenade attack (which also involved a US service man, and also required a court martial) as terrorist acts.
