Found this today. Can anyone identify?

This is the biggest, fattest rimfire shell I've ever seen. As you can see from the photo, it has been struck.

I found this with my metal detector while I was at the local park. Next to it is a .380 for size comparison. This is a neat, little treasure, and I'd just like to know more about it, if anyone has any idea.

Nevermind - found it!

This is a Henry Rimfire .44

THE CARTRIDGE COLLECTOR

No idea how old it is, but I'm going with 1860-1870

Why not try a set of calipers , find the exact measurement and MAYBE ask a OLD gunsmith what caliber it is and what it fit ?
