Former nypd officer pistol permit

Yes, I was referring to any type of NYC issued permit. In NYC, obtaining a Premises permit which allows a person to own a handgun and keep it in his residence or transport it to a range unloaded in a locked box is more difficult to get than most states full concealed carry permits.
The whole point of this thread was to simply find out if anyone had any insight as to whether it would be easier or more difficult for me to obtain a PREMISES PERMIT since I have already gone through an extensive background check and my fingerprints are already on file with the NYPD.

Really, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but considering that you can't do the job you wanted to do, and can't exercise your 2A rights without going to great expense and/or time-consuming hassles, why do you stay there? There's even a state fairly close to you (Vermont) that has always been 100% 2A-compliant (no permits required for open or concealed carry, no permissions to own or acquire weapons, no training requirements, no storage ((trigger locks etc.) requirements, no notification to LEOs requirements). Weather's not that much different. Jobs might be tough to find, but I don't know. I just wonder why people volunteer to be so thoroughly oppressed by both their state, and uniquely in your case, city governments. I am not trying to insult, but it is a baffling question to me.

Blues, in NYC he can't have a BB gun. I kid you not! For crying out loud at least move upstate. Take the train to work.

I think many people are just numb to whatever regulations they have in place. I would bet that the OP has never lived anywhere else. If you want to stay in NYC because you "love the lifestyle" then suck it up buttercup, your gun laws are not citizen friendly. If whatever offense you committed was not a felony or did not involve domestic abuse (or you aren't an illegal alien or dishonorably discharged vet etc.) then there is no federal legal statute keeping you from owning a firearm. The only issue is then with your state. Questions?

I feel this situation is different than most others applying for permits as I have already been issued one and my fingerprints are already on file with the NYPD. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

What happened to the permit you were issued? Did it expire? Was it revoked or suspended?

I think it's time you let us know what you did. If a non Po did it would said person go to jail, or would anyone besides a Po on probation get a slap on the wrist? Give all the pertinent information and maybe you will get more helpful resposes.

Basically I was caught in a club that was serving alcohol after 4am. It's not uncommon in NYC for a club to stay open all night as long as they stop serving at 4am. The Club Enforcement Unit raided it and let almost everyone leave after searching them. I identified myself as an officer as there were a few officers there that I had worked with.. The girls I was there with walked right out without a problem. The di#%head Lieutenant on the scene put "MOS present" over the radio and after that there was nothing anyone could do. I was not unfit for duty and my drug test came back negative. I was suspended for a few weeks and placed on limited duty. It really was just unlucky circumstances. I have no arrest record and I haven't even had a moving violation since I was 17.

You broke the law and got caught. The fact you were a Po in my opinion makes it worse. I personally would have fired all of the cops there. But I would not try to stop you from getting a ccp for that. What is going to stand in your way is if they go back to why you were fired and decide you are
unfit. New York is going to be battle.

I tend to believe he can get it but its gonna cost some $$. A good firearms attorney. Even though you can't carry there are all-night gun ranges in NYC so you can always claim you're on the way to shoot target.

I didn't break any laws. If that were the case, everyone in the bar would have been arrested. The only person that apparently committed a crime was the bartender and owner. I wasn't drinking that night so I wasn't even aware they were still selling alcohol. I was just trying to get laid with a hottie I met earlier that night. It was simply wrong place wrong time.

If that is the case you truly did get screwed but it should then not effect your ccp. Like some others have said....time to pack up and move, either that or fight for it.

"Prints on file" isn't going to make any difference. If prints are required for the permit you will need to give them again. They will also run the background check.

Mr. J510, didn't the PBA try to help you ? So you were in a bar that served alcohol after 4 am. How's that your fault ? Maybe you should of said you were working undercover and was looking to get evidence of illegal activities at this place, because someone told you about it. I guess too late now. I would say move out of the city. Upstate or L.I.. It's easier to get a target permit there, and then you can have your gun sent to a ffl dealer. However if you have a friend who has a permit, maybe you can let them take possession of your gun, so it's out of the property room, while your in the process of getting your permit. Good luck.

The PBA didn't do much. I worked 4-12's on patrol and I wasn't about to make up some crazy story about being undercover. This had happened right after 9/11 and I was questioning whether or not I even wanted to be a Police Officer anymore so I took it as a sign and didn't aggressively pursue legal help. I said earlier that I recently had my firearms shipped to an FFL where a friend with a permit picked them up.
