Forgot about your gun?

I have only been carrying on a regular basis for about 2 years now. During those two years I have read 4 or 5 stories locally concerning the issue of "I forgot I had a gun". When I carry, I am very conscious of the fact that I have a gun. I have not yet "forgot". Just wondering if forgetting has happened to you, and if it has not, is it only a matter of time before it does happen?

BOISE, Idaho -- Two Idaho women who each say they forgot they had handguns in their purses while entering the James A. McClure Federal Building and United States Courthouse in Boise have received fines.

U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson last week announced the penalties for 41-year-old Suzanne Dawn Cummins of Murphy and 37-year-old Christina Marie Landon of Nampa. Each pleaded guilty last year to carrying a weapon into the federal building after the guns were spotted by security scanners.

Cummins was fined $500 for carrying a Sig Sauer semi-automatic pistol loaded with a magazine containing six bullets into the building on July 22.

Landon, who holds an Idaho concealed weapons permit, was fined $300 for carrying a loaded Ruger .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun into the building on Aug. 3.

Anyone who 'forgets' that they are carrying a sidearm into any 'GFZ' is probably a LibTarded DumboCrapper.
The 'majority' of DumboCrapping LibTards should not be allowed to conceal carry any sidearm i.m.h.o.
Most DumboCrapping LibTards and their 'ilk' are a serious threat to our 2nd Amendment rights.

'n*g*ds' will share his LibTarded 'thoughts' with us on this topic soon enough I'm sure.

Liberal gun toters forget they are armed a lot less often than conservatives forget they are gay:

I expect that's one of the unmentioned hazzards of off-body carry. Once one starts putting guns (especailly BUGs) into anything that's not firmly held to one's body, it becomes more difficult to remember exactly WHICH container (bag, purse, backpack, etc.) holds the gun RIGHT NOW.

Default Mode should then be: Every (OBC) is ALWAYS loaded (just like every gun is always loaded).
Don't leave home without CHECKING it. Deadly if one needs it and it's not there. Expensive if it is discovered where it can not be present.

I actually almost forgot my gun yesterday. I was getting ready for church and I laid my gun down on the desk and almost walked out of the house w/out it because I was rushing to get ready.

So tiring to read your stupid posts. "Dumbocrapper"? No value add.

Someone who forgets they have a gun on them or around them probably shouldn't be carrying one in the 1st place. IMHO.

It hasn't happen to me and I doubt it ever will. I alternate carrying a SR9c and a Glock 27. I am very conscious of the fact that I have a weapon on me! I believe every one who carry should feel the same!

Stop 'fantasizing' about me again n*g*ds.

That made me chuckle! Maybe they forgot because they carried in purses and not on person. Kinda scary, robber nabs purse and unknowingly the only defense that woman has...... JM2C

I think it's Cabella's that makes a purse w/ a steel cable in the strap to keep people from cutting it and running off

I often holster up and head out for the day and never think about the gun again. It's like my wallet in terms of what to grab when heading out. While I do forget it's there as I go about my business I have yet to forget about it and enter a GFZ where I would get into trouble and never will

We got creative
My wife's holster is sown in her purse and she walks with her hand on her gun most of the time when walking to the car or into a store. If someone nabs the purse( which wouldn't be hard, she's 5'5" 120lbs) she still has the gun. Shocker!! But she still knows its in there, just don't get some people, but most people don't get me

I carry every day, and will admit that while I never forget that I have it with me, it seems "natural" by now.

I will also echo anvil6 in that off-body-carry can easily cause one to forget that they have a weapon. The real danger is that when the "moment of truth" arrives confronted by a threat, the initial reaction may momentarily cause forgetfulness as well. At the point someone "remembers" they have a weapon, it's too late. There are less than 1.5 seconds to "remember" and more importantly, react appropriately.

For the longest time, my wife took her gun in her purse. It's for the reason stated above that she finally decided that she needs to carry on-body if the weapon is to be of any use to her at all.

When I recalled the OP's incidents posted earlier today, MrsPACarrier quickly acknowledged that I was right in guiding her toward the safest method of female carry. Since I was right once today, I need to make up by reminding her about how many more times she was right today...

Good luck, folks. I have much work to do tonight...

I am "comfortable" with carrying (once I discovered that not everyone was watching me to see if they could spot my gun... level of self conciousness) but never forget those places that are "off limits", annoying and meaningless though they might be.

A possible "concern". I carry one of three different guns depending on situation, how I am dressed, et al. The 9000s sits high on the 10 o' clock position (I'm a lefty), the SP 101 is at 1-2 o'clock for cross draw and the "Tomcat" is in my RT front pocket. Giving me any one of three different "draw" motions. Now, I practice with each of them enough to make it both smooth and fast, but who's to say, in that "startle moment", your "reaction" is going to be to go for the gun that you are NOT carrying that particular day.

Now THAT'S paranoid! But...... Am I being paranid enough? (Old joke amongst Intelligence Specialists.)

GG

P.S. Oh. Why I carry the Tomcat for use Right Handed? I train shooting with both hands, double handed grip as well as one handed. All my guns. The Tomcat is technically my BUG, so I primarily shoot it right handed, even though I carry it as primary when I do carry it at all. (Typically in the Summer)

How's that work out for you? You can't tell the difference in either hands' groups. The only time you can is if (as I sometimes do when trying to speed shoot) "push" the rounds a little to the RT when shooting left handed and vice versa when shooting right handed. It's only a matter of a couple of inches at 10 yards, but still annoying for an old Marine Pistol "Expert" my entire career.

Errrr, I forgot my wallet the other day after I left the house. Had my weapon, spare mag, keys but no wallet which holds my permits. Driving without a license, CC without my permit. Dam glad I didn't get stopped.

As for "Now THAT'S paranoid! But...... Am I being paranoid enough?" Just because you think people are out for you, doesn't mean they're not.
