For all gun owners who keep their guns at home.
There will be a 20/20 report this coming Friday the 31st at 10pm concerning gun security and how your children obtain access to them. I saw a short clip this evening and it is worth your time to view.

I seen I also. I am sure it will paint gun owners in a bad light and am pretty sure they found some of the dumbest people to help them. Careless parents is how they gain access to them.

As well as parents not teaching their kids about safety. Mine are locked up (or on me), but I don't rely on that.

They showed children finding guns at a day care and a play ground. They were "shocked" that the children picked them up, going to try to paint all gun owners as irresponsible. Trying to sway the uneducated masses toward gun control, just like they made a big deal about Zimmerman having over 100 rounds of ammo (to go with his 5 firearms). After all, who needs to have 100 rounds for self defense right.

I believe gun safety and children requires three things:

1. Securing weapons so children can't get them;

2. Teaching children about guns, their danger, and safeprocedures if they should come across a firearm unsupervised so that they are less likely to harm themselves or someone else; and

3. Supervising children when they are handling firearms.

I know parents who are opposed to teaching their children about the dangers and safe procedures should they ever come across a firearm unsupervised. When i have a discussion with a parent who expreses that position I ask how they know that their child will never be at the house of a friend or relative who has a firearm they discover, or how they know their child will never come across a discarded illegal weapon.

Like sex and drugs, firearms are something we hope our children will never be injured by, but keeping them ignorant about such things does not advance that goal.

My kids are grown now but even when the grand kids aren't with meat home, my guns are on me or locked in the safe! This stuff is really easy when people bother to think.

Reminds me of my 16 yo daughter coming home at 7 yo after school when she "learned" that guns were bad and only bad people have guns. You should have seen her eyes when I laid out a good sampling of my collection. Is Daddy bad? Is all I asked her before teaching her tha truth. And went thru eddie the eagle training. Now she gets mad when I go to the range without her.

I saw it also... Diane Sawyer is a condescending dip of liberal doo-doo, that suffers from anosognosia. She can't be helped.

I can almost see Sawyer tearing up or crying at some point about how we MUST get rid of guns "for the children"! The libs ALWAYS use the term "For the Children" to further their agenda. Because who does not want to protect and help the children!!!! :cray:

Then anyone who does not want to get rid of their guns, "Wants children to die!" Sawyer may not say that in those words but the implication will be there!
